The Truth Is Liberally Biased

And many apologies for that.

To whom it may concern:

We here at 411 are deeply apologetic, but we cannot be held accountable for the fact that your candidates are, alternately, a sleaze bag cruising on his reputation for integrity to get him through running one of the most dishonest campaigns in American history, and a sleaze bag with a rap sheet a mile long who has, so far, lied about basically every one of her major accomplishments to date. We would like, like you, to blame these facts on our being liberal but have found it impossible

1. She has no accomplishments. After listening to her, I can see
how maybe she could become mayor of a very small town, but I have no idea how she became a governor. She is a horrible speaker when she's not reading. Her family is a mess and she's a mean spirited person based on things I've read. She's leader of the "mean girls".

Rachel Maddow was the first to call out (by name) the McCain Campaign LIES.

3. The funny part of Palin's rise...
...is the extent the McCain campaign has gone to exaggerate and flat out lie about her accomplishments and record. Its plainly clear that the campaign had nothing left and threw up this "hail Mary" pass. And the thing is, they really didn't need to put up this false front. It looks like the lies about the lack of qualifications might be worse for then than the lack of qualifications themselves. Don't take me wrong, I in no way think that Governor Palin is even close to being qualified for Vice President, President, or even governor of any state. But lets take a look at some of the lies..

"Thanks but no thanks to that bridge to nowhere" - They would have been so much better off saying that the bridge was one of many infrastructure projects that would have benefited the citizens of Alaska. These projects create jobs in the state, increase commerce, and in the end the net benefit is greater than the cost. Its not the "maverick" image, however.

The plane - "put it on eBay" implies sold it on eBay and something that a lot of Americans can relate to. But instead of taking liberty with the facts, simply saying that we didn't feel that the cost of maintenance and operation was worth it so we sold it. Of course this doesn't give you the easy to repeat one liner.

The chef - Simply performing the duties of a chef was not enough of a justification for the salary of the individual so we added duties for the individual to perform. Saying this doesn't build the anti-elite image they're going for.

The trip to Ireland and Iraq - foreign policy isn't a responsibility or a governor (or mayor). The duties of being governor does not lend itself to taking trips abroad without having a good reason to and we didn't want to spend taxpayers' money on unneeded trips. Bam.

You can see Russia from Alaska - This one is just completely dumb. Alaska actually borders Canada, which is a foreign country and there is likely more interaction with Canada anyway. The Russia thing is just trying to play into current events.

7. You're right, but . . .
The Republicans don't do nuance or subtlety. On the bridge to nowhere, for example, they can't admit that an infrastructure project paid for by the government might actually be a good thing. It's just a short hop from there to saying that government has a legitimate function to perform in society, and that is strictly verboten in today's GOP.

10. Exactly
Its their need to create the black or white choice that is dooming them. We need to get better at explaining the shades of grey in the middle though.

13. I may be mistaken, but I think in the early days, she said she SOLD it on eBay.
Or the campaign did.

And she never really went to Iraq I don't think -- just a base on the boarder of Kuwait/Iraq. Again, I could be wrong, but that's what I'm thinking I read somewhere.

5. She's erecting a VP candidacy made of straw.
We just need to light a match and burn her down with the truth.
