In The End Of It All, Those Who Don't Smoke, Drink AND Don't Eat Meat, Don't Help The Environment.
Though there are conflicting studies, there are several that conclude that omitting all of the 3 acts above can lend itself to one living 7 years longer on average.

Since their healthy lifestyle only reduces their carbon footprint by about 3 tons a year, and the average for them overall would be about 22 tons per year, their longevity would yield an additional 154 tons in their lifetime compared to a smoker who drinks and eats meat. That means to offset their longevity, they'd have to be doing those things for 51 years. Since chances are by the time they die, give or take a few years, that it probably would've been around that long they were partaking in such acts of health, they really are contributing very little if anything at all to reducing the affects of global warming.

2. Well I certainly drink enough, and I eat meat once a week or so. Maybe I need to start smoking.
I do want to be a good citizen, afterall.

:)

5. I've never smoked, but I'm gonna go get me a pack of Camels now...
By the way, Operationmindcrime, I've been thinking of you, wondering how you're doing after following all the heartbreaking posts about your wife. I really enjoyed the pictures you posted back then, and was touched by your posts. I wish you well.

6. And it removes all the smugness they would emit those seven years.
Who cries for the loss of all that self-importance?

7. Yep, I guess suicide is the greenest thing we could do.
Welp, I guess I'm not very green.

Ultimately, it's all about balancing a good life for yourself with the needs of others. If you *must* smoke to enjoy your life, I say, have at it.

But if your own life would be improved by eating fewer burgers, and eveyone else's would be too, maybe you should consider it...

8. Well, I smoke and drink wine, but I don't eat meat.
And I will be 70 years old in January, so not eating meat keeps you from aging too much.

9. What if...
a non-smoker were studied who ate as they wanted included a weight lifting and aerobic exercise? I think they'd be more able to walk distances, and or ride a bike. Add to that, the availability of same person to take public transit as a choice. Would they leave a lighter foot print and enjoy a higher quality of life? They certainly wouldn't bugger up the air for the rest of us!

That's a longitudinal study I'd like to see.

13. Those Who Exercise Produce More Emissions Though.
They breathe and exhale more, which also contributes to CO2 emissions lol.

16. Hey, what's a little end title CO2 when compared with-
the abundance of cow flatulence while grazing to produce all that finely marbled red meat?

Eh?

12. Nice link.
So your advice is that we should kill ourselves to reduce our impact? Or just go on destroying everything around us like it doesn't matter? What a sick view of the world.
