Pallin`s selection shows GOP arrogance or stupidity?
The gop tendency to select unqualified resources for president and vice president (bush, quayle), i think, is more a case of their arrogance than stupidity.

They basically believe that their lies and distortions will allows them to win any election, despite the lack of skills and abilities of their candidates.

The public and weak response from our side continues to allow this to happen.

1. A cynical arrogance, and willingness to throw the whole country under the bus to win an election

2. Both. And dishonesty. Hubby and I were talking about our few
rightwingnut siblings, and how sad it is that the only choice we have is to believe that they are either stupid or dishonest.
If they actually believe the shit they say, in light of opposing facts, they're stupid. If they don't believe it, and are clinging to those statements of belief out of greed, fear, or whatever, then they're dishonest.

No other choices, as far as I'm concerned.
OH YEAH! BRAINWASHING! That could be choice #3 - and there do seem to be people who aren't just drinking the koolade, they're mainlining the shit.

Two main groups of hard core GOP AKA the 30%

1. The super-wealthy who don't care what happens to the rest of the world, so long as they get theirs. They are arrogant enough to believe it's their due, and that their money protects them. They are stupid enough to think it protects them against WW III.

2. The Rapture ReadyTM They are arrogant enough to believe that their way is Gods way, that they absolutely know God's way, and that they personally are unquestionably amongst the 144,00 people (throughout all of history) who will be saved. The stupid pretty much goes without saying.

15. I believe that McCain's choice for VP
was an insult to our intelligence. He thinks that he will get
our vote for the mere fact that Palin is a woman. So what if
she's a woman. We need to look at the important issues. As
middle-class Americans, we need to side with our fellow
democrats and support Obama. The Republican Party doesn't
really give a hoot about the middle class. Now McCain is
trying to steal Obama's promise of "change". Except
here is the difference. McCain's change is against the middle
class as where Obama's change is for the middle class. Again
McCain is trying to insult our intelligence. Also, let's not
get swayed or distracted by the McCain-Palin smear tactics or
scare tactics. The "Lipstick on a pig" is so
rediculous. It was so thrown out of context. McCain had not
only said it once himself in 2007 but again in 2008. All
these cheap shots that they are throwing at Obama are all
together insulting to our intelligence. Let's not get swayed
over petty issues. Let's not let him insult our intelligence.
As democrats, let us stick together, women and men, to
support Obama. This country so desperately needs the changes
that Obama will give, and I believe he truly cares and wants
the changes that we need. Last but not least, let's not
forget the past 8 years of the Bush administration.

16. To me it's a litmus test
Rove and co. decide to pick someone who isn't ready to be vp or potus and see just how far they can push her on the American people. Just how much of their idiocy and lies they can sell and unfortunately a good majority are finding that lipstick on a pig looks good because they (the neo-cons) can run things from behind the scenes along with the lobbyists.

17. Actually, it is brilliant. Look how the Republicans are galvanized now
look how, McCain now leads in several states. Look how the race shifted from strong Obama to a tie.

Since when do American voters vote on the issues and based on their minds? If this were so, we would have had President Gore sweeping the polls in 2000, with no but or however and hanging chads.

Same with Kerry in 2004.

But voters like their president to be a pal, to have a beer with, to be "authentic" with zingers and who do not demand too much thinking from them.

Selecting a VP is supposed to be the first decision to show what the candidate is capable to do. While McCain may have been told to select her, that decision was brilliant, from a campaign point of view.

Putting our opinion about Palin and McCain aside, selecting her has been a brilliant step for the campaign.

18. Does anyone agree with me that
most, not all, but most republicans believe they are the
superior white people who don't even care about the middle
class or don't want to associate themselves as being middle
class. To be rich is one thing but to think that they are
superior is pathetic. And for the ones who are middle class
but think that they are the superior white folks is a whole
other story. And for that alone will vote for McCain. The
rest are just idiotic enough to zone in on only the petty
issues.
