Heard all over my husband's office today: "In what respect Charlie?"
He called a little while ago almost in tears. He was laughing so hard. He said that all day long, whenever someone asked a question around the office, people are responding with a nasal "In what respect Charlie?" and then people around burst out laughing.

fwiw, he works in a non-lobbying law firm in downtown DC (around the corner from the infamous K Street) and no one talks politics at work.

10. The one guy he talked to about politics was a Hucklebee supporter
Other than him, hubby doesn't really know. We've gone to a couple of the firm's get togethers and the ones I got the distinct impression that they were libertarians. fwiw, most of the people he works with have engineering degrees (high concentration in electronic and computers). My husband is different. His undergrad degree is Physics. I don't know if there's a concentration among certain professions or not.

38. I wish
His company works a lot with intellectual property matters. As a result, they can be picky about who goes where in their offices. They've got to do what they can to protect their clients' interests. I don't think they'd allow a video camera in there.

...and not generally weighted toward earth sciences (and the biotech patent folks are their own little world within the IP world)

45. That made me realize how absurd it was for her to ask, "In what respect?"
If someone asked you about a subject of which you are ignorant, it is ridiculously dishonest it is to ask that.

54. She said the rapture would occur within her lifetime??
We are SO fucked if the repukes win this one :banghead:. These people are INSANE..it is 2008 ffs! We shouldn't have to pussyfoot around saying that people who think like this are INSANE. We have become so terrified of common frikkin sense in this country because "oooo we may offend those Evangelicals" or whoever that we are afraid to come out and say what most people over the world with some sort of education and whose brains haven't been addled by religious nonsense would openly say-people who think like this are certified loons...

But oh no-that is elitist! All belief systems are equal valid! It is like watching a descent into the dark ages in slo-mo. In this day and age a fucking creationist should not be anywhere near the presidency of a world super-power.

42. That's it
There are drawings, abstracts and occasionally a working model or two. Not to mention a few clients who would prefer to fly under the radar but who come in to consult on the breadth of claims or to clarify something. It isn't high security. They don't have to submit to searches or anything. They trust the employees they have and are pretty lenient about letting us family members go around un-escorted in the office but they don't strangers wandering around the office and I don't think they'd like people taking a lot of pictures or using a video camera in their office.

He asked her if as far as foreign policy goes, she believes in The Bush Doctrine.

She had no clue what he was even asking and said "In what respect, Charlie?"

15. It's a great answer
He said the first time it happened he was out by the copy machine. He asked a co-worker if they were finished with it and she looked at him and asked, "In what respect Charlie?" and then cracked up. He heard it in the break room when someone asked if the donuts were leftovers or for a later meeting. He said he used it on a co-worker when he popped in and asked if he was doing anything for lunch. Everybody has heard about Palin's interview - thanks to the television in the break room, the Metro newspapers, the internet and e-mails from friends.

Remember when it was taboo to make fun of the war president? Then he opened the door to comedy by choking on a pretzel. I'm so glad it hasn't taken as long for people to start laughing at her, instead of laughing with her.

I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some, people out there in our nation don't have maps and, uh, I believe that our, uh, education like such as, uh, South Africa and, uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and, I believe that they should, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, or, uh, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future.
