Teacher Used Muslim Student As Terrorist Example
A Chicago teacher is under fire for singling out the only Muslim student in her class while talking about the Middle East. The teacher has now been reassigned to another school. However, the young boy's family is demanding answers.

The teacher in question is no longer working at the same school, but if the Pakistani-American family at the center of this story has their way, she might not be working much longer.

"He came home and before he even took his backpack off, he had tears in his eyes already," said Mohmmad Fahad Choudhary, victim's brother.

Mohmmad talks about the day his little brother came home from school saying his teacher had singled him out in front of his class as an example of a terrorist.

"She used the example of if Saleh were to go on to an airplane, put his backpack down and put two wires together and the plane were to blow up - and she didn't make a point," said Christina Abraham, Council on American-Islamic Relations.

It's the Rethugs' mantra.

7. More fear mongering
The people who founded this country were willing to DIE for their principles of freedom and equality. Today we're over-run by a populace that is scared to stand up for what our forebears believed. Until we are willing to risk our lives in order to make sure all are treated fairly we will continue to live in fear.

13. They so need that sense of security
And that's what Bush sold them. Only it is completely false. No one can secure us completely. And to give up what our forefathers and foremothers died for and held so dear so that those coming behind had the chance to live in freedom, is just unredeemable.

These cowards.

And to teach fear to the children and single out an innocent child is just despicable.

3. Why haven't the Dems spoken out against this type of behavior?
It's obvious why the Repubs don't. Hell, they nurture and encourage it, which is beneath contempt. But the Dems...Their silence over the BushCo years is more deplorable because they're supposed to be the party that doesn't sit still for this kind of bigotry. Yet NOT ONE DEM has shown leadership on this matter.

And here a young boy has been added to the long list of victims at the hands of a teacher whose mind has been twisted by RW hate.

6. Demonize, isolate, liquidate.
Where have we seen this before.

What next. Perhaps posters of swarthy people with big noses?

8. reassigned to another school - WHAT?!?!
Why is it that districts do this instead of firing them? They have been doing this in my hometown since I was a little kid, which was a long time ago.
Please, not excuses about how it's so hard to fire someone in a union, because it can be done and this is a perfect example of grounds for immediate termination.

9. Horrifying! She should be fired asap!!
I had the honor of having a Muslim student in my class when I taught at a Catholic girls' school. When we were doing our religious texts unit (World Lit class for sophs), I asked her if she could help us out on the Koran. She took the three verses we had in our textbook, put them on the board in Arabic and recited them to us, and then did a fabulous job of explaining the Five Pillars and the beauty of her faith. When one of the students tried attacking her on the hijab, I started to shut it down, but my student stood there proudly and explained how the Taliban didn't speak for her and then proceeded to explain the different sects in Islam and how her family belonged to a more moderate one. I was so freakin' proud of her and gave her a huge hug when she was done.

That teacher should be fired. She tried to break that little boy out of her own fear. That's horrific behavior for a teacher.
