The Governor advocated the accession of Georgia and Ukraine into NATO.

When asked by Gibson if under the NATO treaty, the U.S. would have to go to war if Russia again invaded Georgia, Palin responded: "Perhaps so. I mean, that is the agreement when you are a NATO ally, is if another country is attacked, you're going to be expected to be called upon and help.

What I mean by that isn't that Palin is going to make everyone in the country go to church, but that Palin is an evangelical who will bring the frames of evangelical Christianity into political discourse in a bigger, more profound way than they ever have been before.

Watching this clip, I know personally at least a dozen people who will not only nod and agree with her, but feel more comfortable and even joyous because she's finally couching our foreign policy in terms they understand, as part of God's plan for our country.

And just like the "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance, once you start mixing political and religious doctrines, you can almost never separate them again. The religious voters won't let you.

I didn't think I'd ever see a political figure that terrified me more than Bush, but in Sarah Palin, I truly have.
