two people at lunch tackled me
I went out back to have a smoke, two other people were already there and came right up to me. My reputation is spreading... (see http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x3951786)

"Is it true Palin shoots wolves from helicopters?" one asked me

"yes" I told them "it's called aerial hunting"

the second person expressed some doubt, so after the smoke we went to her office, and I called up the various references/pics of aerial hunting
(http://www.huffingtonpost.com/glenn-hurowitz/sarah-palins-cruel-streak_b_123388.html)

the 2nd person's reaction was "What is she some whacko? that's disgusting. how can anyone vote for her?"

me: yes, she is a bit extreme, and is that who people want in the white house?

1st person: anyone who would want her in the white house is just as whacky

 give me a couple more weeks and there will be enough Obama supporters here to warrant a rally...

4. in this case it wasn't
the issues - it was an emotional response to aerial wolf hunt

last night's encounter was also an emotional response to "fear" of an extremist

forget the issues, go with the words that evoke emotion: extremist, whacko, shoots wolves from planes

if it works for the reichwingers, it will work for us

21. Absolutely! Why would anyone think that reason would work with someone undecided...
at this stage of the game? That's just stupid.
Using emotionally loaded words is critical. To ignore that reality is even more stupid.

5. I've turned a couple around to Obama just on Palin's beliefs
that NO animals have any rights whatsoever. I've sent out some really ugly videos of them shooting wolves from airplanes and absolutely all of the responses have been negative. Most Americans are sympathetic to animals, and especially the plight of the polar bear. Showing people how Palin feels about animal issues, I believe, can only hurt her in the political arena.

7. Yay! I've had similar experiences recently
I get frequent emails for information on various issues from friends trying to argue the case for Obama among friends and family. They're reposting my blogs and the information I have sourced. These people are motivated, for the first time in their lives and actively debating in their homes, friends houses, churches and work. It's amazing the difference I am seeing in people's curiousity and quest for the truth. They know I'm a junkie and that I do a lot of research and use credible sources. I make sure everthing on the up and up before I send them out, I don't want them to fail by not having the facts. I may have inadvertently created some monsters...they can't get enough. Bwahaha...all part of the plan.

11. That's great
I too get 'tackled' almost everyday at work. Course most of my coworkers are Dems anyway, thank goddess, but I have enlightened a few folks to the real john mccain. Knowing that I'm the political junkie I'm asked daily, is this true or I heard that what do you think?..

And since caribou barbie has come on the scene most of my coworkers are truly disgusted by her and the repub party.

There is one girl at work that absolutely will not talk politics with me cuz she knows I'll wipe out her faux news talking points with facts and truth every time and she doesn't like it when her little bubble gets burst. I get the feeling it must hurt her wittle bwain to think for herself.

12. animal rescue
I am on an animal rescue email list and I am certain that many of these people were conservatives.
No more. In an unprecedented departure from status quo, we are emailing back and forth POLITICAL stuff;
new revelations about this palin person who kills wolves, bears, etc, and brags about it.
Her horrible record towards animals and the environment is a personal affront to the animal rescue people
that are on my list.

18. animal advocates will not stand for Palin
Just to let you know, Defenders of Wildlife is going after Palin in ads and emails. Look for the Humane Society,Greenpeace,ASPCA, and others to do the same. If these organizations would all send emails to their supporters, it would really create a firestorm.

On another topic, someone once said that we should show Palin's family compassion for their daughter being pregnant. What? Whenever she and her family show compassion for animals then they will get compassion from me. In other words...never.

Kick their ass on this dems. I love the fact that I am a bleeding heart liberal.:kick:

24. my partner just got home
she got in a little "tussle" with a woman at her second job...

group of people were talking about mccain and palin, one woman said she was voting for palin

not known for diplomacy - my partner says "WHAT??? Are you nuts??? what qualifications does she have??"

the woman blusters, and then says "she can shoot caribou"

my partner snorts out my line "Caribou??!!! Ha! I'd be more concerned about being attacked by al-qeada than al-caribou"

the other people laughed, the woman harhumphed off
