Hillary. It appears this week in her opinion piece in Newsweek. Don't know how or why, but the children of Ron and Nancy are both liberal and disagreed with their fathers political views.

Sorry if this has been posted before. I didn't see it if it has.

What Hillary Should Say Now
An open letter to the almost-nominee.

Patti Davis

Newsweek Web Exclusive
Updated: 4:32 PM ET Sep 5, 2008

Dear Hillary,

Where are you? We haven't heard from you since your strong and eloquent speech at the Democratic National Convention. You might be taking a well-deserved vacation--certainly you must need one after all those arduous months campaigning. But we need to hear from you right now. We need your voice to speak for all the women (and there are many of us) who are angry at the assumption that, just because Sarah Palin is female, we will fall in line behind her.
We need you to make clear that women do not automatically judge someone because of gender; we are more concerned with the quality of their character and the depth and breadth of their experience.

We do not see rudeness and snarkiness and sarcasm as admirable; in fact, most women teach their children not to treat others in that manner, and they tend to steer clear of adults who never learned that lesson.

We respect the right of other women to raise and educate their children the way they see fit. We also respect their right to make their own child-bearing decisions with no interference from the rest of us. We ask for that same respect in return. We don't want the government in our homes or our wombs. It is, in the simplest sense, a respect for privacy, a word vehemently used by the Republican Party in reference to Sarah Palin's family. But it's not just families in the public eye who deserve privacy; we all do.

<snip>

Hillary, you have a more prominent voice than the rest of us. We need to hear your voice reminding people that women are smart and perceptive, and perfectly capable of doing research on a candidate who chose to be snippy rather than informative about her political record.

Many of us are frightened about the future of this country. You once said, with tears in your eyes, that running for president was very personal to you--that where America goes from here was deeply personal. It's personal to us also. Please help us communicate that putting a woman on a presidential ticket is only a good thing if it's the right woman.

Edited on Sat Sep-06-08 03:44 PM by rebel with a cause
Which is fine, but maybe she could go after them both, after all they are soul mates. Perhaps she could mention how mccain can't keep his eyes off palin's behind. You know, warn cindy m about she (cindy) should know about cheating husbands, since she married one. Hillary could even do a dig at herself here to get women more on her side. (not throwing stones at Hillary, I have walked in her shoes on this) ;)

Hillary Clinton is coming to Lake Buena Vista Monday to talk to the national convention of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. The 2 p.m. appearance is open to the media -- but not the public.
The IAM was one of the first unions to endorse Clinton's presidential candidacy, and it's expected to consider this week a new endorsement for the general election. Presumably, Clinton will encourage them to give the nod to fellow Democrat Barack Obama.
The Obama campaign has announced she'll be campaigning for the Illinois senator in Tampa on Monday as well. No details yet.

U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton will spend the next two days in Florida campaigning for Barack Obama, including an appearance Monday morning at an event in Kissimmee that's open to the public. She's in Tampa on Sunday.

Her Kissimmee appearance is at noon Monday in the Kissimmee Room of The Exhibit Building at Osceola Heritage park, 1901 Chief Osceola Trail. It's free and open to the public, but tickets are required.

To get a ticket, go to the Obama campaign's Orlando Field Office at 1011 East Colonial Drive today from 5 to 8 p.m. or Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. Osceola residents can go to the Kissimmee field office at 908 Mabbette St. during those same times.

6. Patti and Ron are really good people
Obviously Nancy and Ronald Sr. did one thing right: they raised a fine pair of children who became thoughtful and admirable adults. That says something about them.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Nancy, Ron and Patti all vote for Obama.

8. The Hidden Elephants At The RNC
I posted a question about this during the RNC...and as usual, it dropped like a 16 ton boulder here.

They showed a Raygun tribute and afterwards moved along...no Nancy or any Reagan family member was there. I found out Ron was covering the convention for Air America and Michael is in trouble for threatening Paulbots with violence.

I'd love to see the Obama campaign roll out a spot with her, Susan Eisenhower, Susan Ford (also an Obama supporter)...

12. Michael is a republican tool.
He is Ron's adopted son with Jane Wyman. Ron and Jane divorced over politics. Was it just because of his ambition, or was it like I heard before that they disagreed on politics altogether? Does anyone here know the answer to that?

I thought she was probably more liberal than him, but now I don't know since it was the child that she raised that followed in his footsteps. Strange.

15. Many Explanations Out There
By the early 50's, Raygun's star had fallen in Hollywood...he was only able to get parts in B-rated flicks playing opposite chimps. She was big box office and the bloom had fallen off this rose. Rumors are that Ronnie was messing around at the time and also that he had fallen out with the Union (which he was a member of) and started to shill for corporations...and how he met Nancy (daddy was a rich GOOP fatcat)...and that was the end.

BTW...Michael was adopted...never flesh & blood. He was never close with his father or the rest of his family. The only one who kept any contact was Maureen.

Michael has used his name to milk radio gigs...with poor results and now is being sued for threatening violence against Ron Paulbots. A real loser. My favorite image is of daddy's funeral...there was Nancy, Ron & Patti hugging while Michael was left on his own. There were also stories of how the Great Expectorator didn't even recognize him as his own kid.

Cheers...

There have been reports he outted screen writers for the HUAC...the McCarthy hearings, but I've never seen it substantiated. He did testify (and brought him to the attention of the corporates like GE)...that all but ended his movie and union career.

20. I always felt sorry for Michael because it did seem that Ronnie
didn't care anything about him. He was basically Jane's. My sympathy ended the night I heard him on some show talking that RW thrash. I imagine he is still trying to earn Ronnie's love but that is not enough reason for what he does. He is a pretty big idiot.

25. I've always thought the whole RW shilling was to win his father's approval.
I see it as some kind of identity issue for him, just because of ways I've heard him talk about it. He thinks he's carrying on his father's name. I think that's very telling. Ron and Patti have strong enough self-images that they can question their father's values, the Repug party, etc. I think Michael is working out some stuff.

So, at some level, I feel sorry for him.

39. From Reagan's Diary:
Monday, Nov. 19, 1984
"One other sour note on Thanksgiving had to do with Mike R. He blew up at something on TV news based on an inteview Nancy had given. He called me and when I tried to straighten him out he screamed at me about having been adopted and hung up on me."

Monday, Nov. 26, 1984
"To top the day off, I called Mike R. We talked for half an hour and I'm more than ever convinced that he has a real emotional problem that is making him paranoid."

Thursday, Nov. 29, 1984
"Another call from Mike. He is a really disturbed young man. I've contacted his minister and believe maybe we can get through to Mike…"

Edited on Sat Sep-06-08 04:47 PM by Liberal_Stalwart71
In fact, the rumor was that after John McCain cheated on Carol, she and Ronald didn't speak to McCain for a long time. They tried to encourage the McCains to repair the marriage but of course Ole Johnny wanted the rich blonde on his arm.

Why did Nancy wait so long to finally endorse John? We all know that the Repukes hate this man.

29. It was said on a mccain bio the other night that the
Reagans had a close relationship with cindy mccain's family and that is what kept them connected to mccain after the divorce. That is the only way I knew that. That does not mean that Nancy liked the man, only that politically they were tied to him. cindy's family was the reason he went as far as he has with money and connections.
