OOps. McCain staff chooses wrong Walter Reed photo for photo-op backdrop
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/213806.php

'A lot of people were asking tonight: what the hell was that mansion up behind John McCain tonight during the first part of the speech? As I noted below, the TV close-ups only showed McCain's head against the grass in the picture, which made it look like he was reprising his famed green screen performance. And when they panned out, it looked like McCain was showing off one of his mansions.

Well, several readers have written in to tell me that the building is actually the main building on the campus of the Walter Reed Middle School in North Hollywood, California. And sure enough, this page on the school's website makes it pretty clear that they're correct...'

evidently whomever was supposed to pick a photo of Walter Reed Medical Center as the background picture, evidently messed up and picked a photo of Walter Reed Middle School in N Hollywood.

that the writer can't believe they are THAT incompetent, it IS the RNC...RIGHT? But he goes on to say he can't come up with a better explaination!

7. Look what the principal has to say about it >>

“It has been brought to the school’s attention that a picture of the front of our school, Walter Reed Middle School, was used as a backdrop at the Republican National Convention. Permission to use the front of our school for the Republican National Convention was not given by our school nor is the use of our school’s picture an endorsement of any political party or view.”

8. OMG, that's freakin hilarious
Kinda like Bushy-boy's admin looking for the national anthem to play for the Leader of China, and coming up with Taiwan's instead. Y'see, the one with the Olympics is called the PEOPLE's Republic of China, whereas the one with Taipei is just the Republic of China. So they played the wrong anthem.

Hillary was right: you really can't tell them apart, when they make the same kinda stupid mistakes. They have a choice of 2, and with 50-50 odds, they pick the WRONG ONE:rofl:

16. Why am I thinking of the
candidate for mayor of New Orleans, who had a picture in her campaign of her photoshopped standing in the middle of New Orleans Square?

18. Maybe some bright thang caught that in mid-speech
and that's why the remainder of the speech was just the lone flag flying on the flag pole all by itself in the great expanse of blueness. I thought that was odd until just now. How many minutes was the picture the same thing? Someone probably just set it to that image and said there - just repeat that flying flag until I cue the fire works at the end.

Betcha.

19. I like dKos' theory
that they deliberately didn't pick a proper picture of WRAMC because the historic entrance looks like this:

And what would people say if a presidential candidate stood in front of that "foreign architecture"?

24. Remember, they mocked the "Greek columns"
at the DNC last week. That's probably a big part of the reason.

And see, it even says "Walter Reed General Hospital" right above the front door.

But seriously, they can't even do the Google right? Dear god, how stupid do they think we are . . . .

21. Excuse me, but this is the RNC not the McCain campaign
making fun of grandpa is fun, sure, but IMHO it needs to be pointed out the the Republican party can't even get the details right at the biggest speech of the biggest party they have, live on INTERNATIONAL television. We beamed our idiocy to the Terrorists.

Supposedly (according to the RW radio jocks) the Cuban Crisis was a result of Kruschev's perception that JFK was a lightweight and the USSR could do anything it wanted with little to fear from this wet behind the ears kid. Well if a nuclear crisis is created because of perceived incompetance, then how much did the Republican Party just embolden our enemies by proving they are stupid moranic idiots who can't find a picture in a wet paper bag?

IMHO this is a point that can and should be pounded home with the voters in the middle. They are NOT voting for McCain, they are voting for THE REPUBLICANS, the same bunch that ran the Iraq war worse than Larry, Curly and Moe could ever do.

26. Minimal but yes, in the eyes of swing voters.
There are a surprising number of swing voters that picture McCain as his crafted maverick image and actually believe he'll turn the Republican party into something worth having. IMHO it's important to drive home his incompetence and how that related to the general incompetence of the RNC.
