Marion Jones released from prison in San Antonio
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 10:49 AM by Husb2Sparkly
She served her time and now she's out.

I liked her before and I like her now.

I'm glad she's out.

(source: MSNBC .... if you need a link, try that Google thing.)

Edit to spell her name correctly (I'm a dumbfuck)

2. That was a shitty deal for Jones
I'm glad she's out too.

There were many athletes who used steroids and lied about it. She seemed to be singled out.

Why the hell are Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds still walking around free?

7. Well, I hope she can find a way to go on with her life
I'm glad she's out, I liked her too. It was a shame to see that it was all a fraud, though.

5. What did it accomplish to put her in prison?
She was utterly and totally disgraced. She lost everything she'd worked hard for. Her tearful admission of shame was more than enough to satisfy me. I don't know why on Earth she needed to go to prison.

8. I can't believe the Government sends people to prison for cheating at meaningless sports

9. It was more the check-fraud thing and the perjury that got her, I think
Most people disapprove of counterfeiting and lying under oath.

13. I'm lazier...but if memory serves, she perjured herself on both issues
steriod use and the check fraud scam with her husband (shot put guy...what's his name..I can't remember)

14. Ok, check fraud I can go with
but there shouldn't be "oath" involved when talking about sports. I'm not a sports hater, but there's better things for our Gubmit to worry about

15. So BALCO wasn't doing anything wrong?
Anyone should be able to distribue controlled substances through the mail? Or launder drug money without penalty?

10. Its not the cheating.
Its the coverup. This is ALWAYS the case..Look at the white collar criminals like Martha Stewart. If they just admitted their crime, they would've had a slap on the wrist.
Oh, btw, steroid use isn't trivial in my eyes..Its very dangerous and sets a bad example for others. And I do believe that people in the sports world have died at very young ages because of steroid use (I personally am suspicious of Florence Griffith Joyner's early death from a heart "condition" thats the kind of thing that long term steroid abuse can cause)
