Should Oprah host Sarah Palin?
She is apparently getting lots of requests. I'm sure many are generated by the RW on purpose.

It's her show and she can book whoever she wants. Should she book her and call her out when

she makes false statements? This is what the Rethugs meant when they said "talk over the medias' heads."

3. Sure why not, Oprah is firmly in our court
and would never ever do anything that could feasibly promote the republicans over Obama. I think Barack is the first presidentaly candidate that Oprah has come out fully and vocally supporting.

12. Her support of Obama
does not automatically mean she would challenge Palin on the issues, particularly on her beloved show. IMHO, Oprah would play nicey-nice with Palin and allow her free rein to promote her warped vision for America. If Oprah did contradict her at all, which I doubt she would, it would be couched in "we're-all-friends-here" niceness that would completely negate any serious challenge. My vote is "NO".

5. As long as they ask her REAL questions about her positions and what she
plans to do for women, the poor, family planning, etc. That could be interesting.
I doubt Oprah would coddle her like the rest of the media has.

6. It's Oprah's show - she should do what she wants. I think she doesn't want to.
So why should she?

It's the Oprah show.

8. Would Palin show up?
Oprah should invite her but I doubt Palin will accept. She is being kept in a bubble and will not answer any questions.

10. I don't think Palin would go on Oprah...
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 08:44 AM by Blue Belle
The interview would be too tough for her... and they can't spin that Oprah was beating up on her - no one would buy it. Oprah doesn't nail someone to the wall if it isn't warrented and when she does people pay attention. Oprah has more influence than Murdoch and Cheney put together when it comes to the house wife/ working mother vote.

15. Palin would JUMP at the chance
to go on Oprah's show. Palin would (rightly) see it as a golden opportunity to spout her wingnut worldview to a receptive audience of women, her primary target demographic. It would be a huge mistake to give her that nationwide platform.

11. NO - everyone thought that she would tear O'Reilly a new one
several months back when he was to appear on her show, and she totally let him off the hook, specifically regarding the case of the kidnapped and sexually abused boy that O'Reilly claimed "enjoyed" being held hostage.

She would totally bend over backwards to show the "human" side of SP (and I couldn't possibly make those quotation marks more prominent), and make the sheeple contingent of American women that much more enamored with her...NO WAY.

14. Obama's most vocal supporter...
would not try to make his opponent seem more human. She's invested too much into him to intentionally destroy his chances and it would ruin her credibility in the process.

Respectfully disagree
Oprah would play the gracious hostess and give Palin free rein to make her pitch to an audience of hundreds of millions of women, some of whom are the low-information voters Palin specifically wants to bring into her fold. I hope Oprah is perceptive enough to foresee that it would be a huge mistake to bring Sarah Barracuda on her show.

18. I hope not - and I think Oprah's smarter than that.
She endorsed Obama so having Palin on would be a no win situation. If she wasn't hard on her then it would give Palin a boost in popularity. And if she was hard on her then the McCain camp would say she's being "aggressive" (or some other buzz word) to help Obama.

So no, she shouldn't have Palin on IMHO.

Quote of the day: Oprah on Palin

"I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over."

-- Talk show host Oprah Winfrey in a statement, denying a Drudge Report story, which claims Oprah's staff is divided about whether the G.O.P. veep candidate Sarah Palin should appear on the show before the election.

Winfrey, who has campaigned for Barack Obama, said that she will not use her show as a platform for any of the candidates before the election. In the past, Obama has appeared on Winfrey's show, both times before he was running for President, according to TMZ.
