4. I'm not tuned in to that panel but I am astonshed at how vitriolic
the evening went in St. Paul.

If this is a political party that wants a future for itself it sure hasn't presented itself accordingly tonight.

Giuliani in particular was abominable.

It's fine that Palin disagrees with Dems, hates their policies, loathes their approach to campaigning, but her approach is inflamatory, ugly and disrespectful. She's showing a lack of respect for the process in addition to the opposing candidates who are equally committed to this country, but simply have a different approach. I question the sanity and judgement of any Republican (and I come from a big family of them) who views her as representative of this country with her small-minded views (only people from small towns do real work and serve in the military?!?!) and, frankly, un-Christian and dishonest rhetoric, which fail to focus on real issues. She would be an embarrasment as a VP and a tragedy if she ever had to step in for the aging McCain. less

I am glad that Palin feels due process is unnecessary for those labeled terrorists, that it is not necessary to afford them the protections granted by the United States Constitution. Apparently she has forgotten, or has never known, what any student of history, especially political history knows. If you ignore the fundamental rights of some, you ignore the fundamental rights of all. Once we start down the path (which of course we already have) of ignoring Constitutional protections when it is convenient soon we will be living in a dictatorship, one very similar to the one that currently exists in those nations we label "terrorist," North Korea and Iran. less

I have been watching this for days to determine how I should vote. Palin's speech has been the deciding factor for me. Aside from the issues, she has about as much experience as my next door neighbor. I can't believe she has the nerve to ignore the obvious and come out as if she isn't a bit aware of the fact that hardly anyone knows who she is and she hasn't earned the standing to be attacking other's experience. this is a sign of just how out-of-touch the pundits are with the pulse of America.

Given the reaction from my father -- who has been lapping up the "McCain = moderate maverick reformer" BS -- I'm inclined to go with the latter. He said tonight that she was disgusting, hateful, that it reflects on McCain, and that he was definitely voting for Obama.

It's really worth reading those comments. Unless someone at DU called for us to go over there and post comments, the general public absolutely hated that speech. So many of the posters note, "I wanted to like her," and "I planned on voting for McCain, but this speech has changed my mind," and "I tuned in to watch history being made, but this is just ugly and rude."

This makes me think of the 11,000 e-mails Cafferty got about her.
