Residents of Georgia and the Carolinas. Hanna is heading your way.
and it appears it will be a hurricane. Take care of you and yours. FEMA will be busy in Louisiana, so you might be on your own.

2. It might hit anywhere from Miami to Charleston.
Let's not forget Florida.

With my luck it's headed right to Orlando.

16. Gurgle gurgle - YES!!!
It travelled through every single county in Florida and dumped feet of rain. We are still flooded in many areas.

17. Through central FL
...for the most part, yes! We went from famine to feast, then Fay brought the great flood...and the water levels are still rising in some places. I think only the western side of the state is still a little dry.

through Florida. He has no idea if his home is flooded or not.

23. Not knowing is rough
We went through that coming home after Charley; we'd evacuated to the SE and as we got closer to home the damage increased until we were sure our house must be gone. Thankfully it was okay, but that drive really ate at our nerves.

I'd ask where your friend lives but I can't find a detailed map showing the flooded areas. A few things he could try from where he's at: call his home (if it rings he's probably good); call a neighbor; call the local police dept.

I sincerely hope his home is high and dry.

25. He just called me. He just returned home. Still a lot of flooding, but
his home is high and dry. He's from the Orlando area. Got one in Tallahassee, one in Sarasota, one in Satellite Beach, and family in Vero beach. One just moved from Treasure Island, now between Tampa and Sarasota. .

31. That's great news
Many are affected, but it's concentrated in relatively small areas. Hope all your friends and family continue to be okay. Hanna is coming and may dump more rain on us....

he's a day trader so a little thing like a hurricane is nothing to him.

36. It's an enviable personality trait
Since 2004 I worry most of hurricane season and watch the weather forums like a hawk. My husband on the other hand doesn't trouble himself until it's time to evacuate. lol

37. I have to admit that I was selfishly thinking just that.....
We desperately need the rain in the Asheville area. We got some from Fay -- people were doing happy dances! Of course, there's the flip side even in this area -- Frances & Ivan came this way in 2004 and a couple of rivers overflowed their banks and flooded some areas, with Biltmore Village getting the worst of it (about 4 feet of water I think). There were also some mudslides with houses destroyed.

Selfish, I know, but I hope it does come this way to give us the rain without flooding out areas on the rivers again. If they'd stop the steep slope development around here most of the mudslide issue would subside -- as it is, it'll only get worse over time if they don't friggin stop building where they have no business building.

14. NC is likely to be overlooked if Hannah hits us because NOLA will be 24/7 after Gustav...
We have dodged the odds for a couple of years now, but those of us who have lived in NC for the last 20plus yrs know that we will be hit again -- if not Hannah this time, it will be another before too long.

I've been in sand storms in the Sub Sahara. That was fun too.

32. Yes we do need the rain but you remember the remnants of Fay coming through?
Greensboro had some bad flooding just from that. Plus tornados too.

Wasn't on the news anywhere but my sons' school (Sedalia) got flooded out. Some classrooms (my sons included) were put out of use. Plus the tornado alert came in too; that made my son's day absolutely miserable. Also someone hydraplaned right into the school sign by the side of the road.

Mark.

33. I live in NC now and was in Kendall/South Miami-Dade
The next day after Andrew..I sort of wanted to leave after that, but stayed in Fla for years after that, but the utter devastation indescribable.
That is part of the reason we now live in the NE Piedmont of NC near Danville Va.
We got remnants of Fay.
5 1/4 inches of rain overnight. It will help the drought as it came down fairly slowly and it had time to soak in. We could use the remnants of Hanna in the same way.
Greensboro had a small tornado but out here it just rained from afternoon through the night.
