GOP to replace convention speeches with hurricane “service program”?
Edited on Sat Aug-30-08 06:28 PM by gi4obama
If they do nothing they’ll be slammed for callousness and if they do the right thing they’ll be slammed for exploitation, so there’s no reason whatsoever not to do the latter. Oh, except of course that it meddles with God’s plan to help Obama win by wrecking New Orleans.

It’s not just the fringe types like Michael Moore who are advancing that “argument” either, do note.

John McCain and the GOP are considering scrapping political speeches and turning their St. Paul/Minneapolis convention into a “service” program to help victims of Storm Gustav, The Post has learned.

Sources told The Post that McCain himself might visit the Gulf Coast during the week of the Republican National Convention, which begins tomorrow. McCain is not scheduled to make his nomination speech until Thursday.

2. Replaces what must be a confusing message and lots of rewrites. Also that cake photo from Katrina.

3. Stop politicizing Gustav
Listen, not EVERYTHING has to be politicized. No matter what the Republicans OR Democrats do or say this week, they'll be crucified for it. No matter how efficient or inefficient FEMA and Homeland Security are this week, they'll be crucified for it. Everyone will be a loser, and if anyone thinks they can gain political capital from a natural disaster, they are losers in my book. I normally like Michael Moore, but his comments on this proving there is a God in heaven are completely out of order.

Pray for those on the Gulf Coast. Pray hard.

4. Because they wouldn't dream of doing it to us
if the tables were turned. This is going to be the supreme test of this crap administration as they fall all over themselves to try and get the best soundbite at this weeks pukefest. They, in 7 and a half years have done nothing to help either the people of this country or its infrastructure. We will hear more empty promises made this week than a guy trying to get to third base on his first date.

5. Saw a report this morning on the preparation for the coming
storm. Government officials from each program was coming to the mike telling how they were prepared. I didn't watch but for a few minutes but the one I heard gave what could only be called a political influenced speech. Basically he said that they weren't prepared for what happened in 2005, but that they were prepared this time. He continued to compare 2005 to now and how much they (the administration) had done to improve the agencies that dealt with disasters. I gagged as I changed channels.
