I wish Michael Moore hadn't said that
"Hurricane Gustav shows there's a god in heaven."

I'd prefer not to make light. I know what he's saying, and I agree, but a poor poor choice of words.

3. Holy shit, I think he realized it after it left his mouth.
But I don't think another hurricane hitting New Orleans, even if it is during the Republican Convention is a good time for schadenfreude.

24. Yeah, but I'm not saying it...
on national teevee, as a very public persona.

I grew up on the upper Gulf Coast, so maybe I am a tad sensitive to that sort of thing.

On second thought, I don't think that was a joke. I get your point, but our political correctness hasn't won any elections lately.

36. From the rambling quality of the conversation, I think he just wasn't thinking.
Keith didn't call him on this comment, but you can bet the RW will pick up on it, not good news for us! Will somebody please hand Mr. Moore the list of questions ahead of time, so he's better prepared with his usually intelligent and considered comments? Thank you... :-(

21. I think that's the point he was trying to make really
I don't think like that, but it's out there and I end up responding to it sarcastically much in the same way. Of course I don't mean it, but for people who may not get it or heard the original idiocy from which it sprang, they may be offended. But then again, I'm not on tv.

How can you blame someone for saying something without said realization, seeing such, and adding a disclaimer?

we eat our own. Let one of us misspeak or make the slightest mistake and the pack turns on them and tears them apart. Good gravy, don't we have better things to do than feed the repugnants tonight.

Moore has enough conservatives attacking him without us doing the same. Give the the poor guy a break. :grr:

38. As someone who is currently preparing to evacuate
I have to admit, I appreciate the poetry of this storm at this time. We're directly in the projected path of the storm (New Iberia, LA), and we just may lose everything, but I doubt it.

Joking about it doesn't make it worse IMHO, since neither seriousness nor levity can change the storm's path.

The GOP deserves to face another storm at this very moment in their campaign. I'm an atheist, so I can't claim that god is making a statement. It's just karma, I guess. Still, Moore is going to take heat for it. He's used to that.

Besides, I was here for hurricane Andrew. That was also an election year, and the federal response was incredible (though it didn't get Bush 41 re-elected).
