Is this a question that shouldn't be asked? Where is Jimmy Carter?
A humanitarian President, who helps build houses for people, and helped eradicate disease in Africa. So, where is he? and why isn't he here? Don't know, please help answer?

14. He was and there was a lovely video presentation of his
work in NOLA. Both Jimmy and Rosalynn were introduced at the end. Truthfully, I thought he was going to speak as well but either he didn't or they didn't carry it.

Lots of pix here

15. Maybe it wasn't carried.
On other sites it's suggested that he spoke but I haven't seen a feed of it anywhere.

13. What a class act..here is a comment from the above interview..
Edited on Wed Aug-27-08 08:39 AM by Stuart G
Carter: “Yes, yes. … Michelle spoke last night, Barack is going to speak Thursday night and the other two nights are the Clintons. So I didn’t want to intrude. So, what I did was tell David Axelrod, who was in charge, just to let me do whatever I could to be helpful. I didn’t need to get on the stage and make as speech.”

How many politicians would say this...perhaps his last convention..(he isn't exactly young you know..)...a true class person...

11. I think he did speak. And I caught the tail end of an interview with him on CNN this AM.
But from the press coverage, you'd never knew he spoke (wasn't he president or something? :sarcasm: #%$*&#!).

Two thing's I've noticed about the convention coverage:

1) They'll show one or two speeches at the end of the day, ignore the rest, and fill the other 23 hours with pundits talking out of their a**.

2) The talking they're doing is mostly "It's all about the Clintons!!" (how would you know there was anything more since that's all they talk about?)

12. There Both nights. What's the issue?
They had a nice film about him they showed. I would have loved a speech about what bush did to Carter's FEMA. But, that didn't happen.

17. I saw him interviewed Monday night.
I've been watching PBS and I couldn't tell what was live and what wasn't but I assumed he was at the convention. The thing is- there are an awful lot of people there and its pretty tough to fit everyone in to a keynote speech. I am really glad Ted Kennedy got on. That was probably the highlight of the week for me.

I don't know what happened. They played the video and had him walk across the stage.

Carter to speak at Dems' convention

Published: 08/21/2008

Jimmy Carter will speak at the Democratic National Convention, but he won’t discuss Israel or foreign policy.

The former president will be in Denver and be recognized before a video is shown of his speech in New Orleans, presumptive nominee Barack Obama's convention spokeswoman, Jenny Backus, told JTA.

The Republican Jewish Coalition has called for Carter's removal from the schedule because of his “troubling anti-Israel bias.”

Carter also spoke at the 2004 convention, but that was before he upset many in the Jewish community in 2006 with the publication of his controversial book “Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid," and his subsequent claims that pro-Israel activists were trying to silence him and any efforts to debate U.S. support for the Jewish state.
