I am also watching MSNBC, but when I start yelling at the teevee, it's to flip back to CSPAN2.

1. You're one of the few
who will ever actually listen to that speech. In 1968, everything was so screwed up, and he went on so late, it was like he was talking to himself, poor guy. He never should have hooked his wagon to LBJ's dark star.

2. Agreed. I remember being on the schoolbus chanting "Humphrey Humphrey he's our man
Let's throw Nixon in the garbage can." I was in first grade, so I don't remember much else lol.

4. 1972 was worse, McGovern gave his acceptance speech at prime time in Guam
the decipline at '72 convention was bad and McGovern had to wait for hours because something like 60 names were put in nomination for VP. Just one of a series of jinxes that followed McGovern after the primaries.

5. Oh, man, remember that?
I had forgotten about that. What a disaster. At least Humphrey had some fire in him when he spoke, but McGovern was stilted and monotonous. What a good man, and what an ignominious fate befell him.

That's what scares me about the proposed roll call at this year's convention - I'm wondering what kind of dragged-out process it might become. Let's hope the powers that be have a steady and firm hand on the controls there.
