He won't let the ticket get steamrolled or swift boated.

5. You got THAT RIGHT! That was my only concern about Barack!
He seems to really HATE fighting with anyone, and calling his epposition out on their lies! It was driving me NUTS! I KNOW Joe isn't like that at all! He'll flat out call you a lier to your face if it's warranted! NOW we have the perfect ticket!

17. Beyond call you on it, he'll stand up on top of his table and throw the gavel in their face
Keep in mind, we are electing the President of the Senate as well. The guy who holds the gavel.

What better way to keep those son-of-a-bitches in line than to elect someone who knows their tricks.

14. I'm interested to see how he handles McCain's POW whine
I don't know if he'll address it but someone needs to point out that the prince got special treatment as a POW.

28. "A noun, a verb, and POW" -- He didn't need to say it: the MSM already did!
At least the MSM that's on MSNBC. But I love it -- Biden really wounded Giuliani with that biting observation about 9-11, because it was not only true but got repeated endlessly.

And now that Biden is up against McCain, whose constant reference to his POW experience is already being questioned, Olbermann and several others over the past week have already recalled that phrase and started use it regarding McCain.

22. I might have been willing...before Biden.
Maybe Oily Joe will use the TELE-COM to call 1-800-YAY-FISA and ask the BANKERS for more money to keep OUR situation the same as it's been for the last 8 years.

President McCain? You might get used to saying it because the left leaning swing voters are liable to be munching popcorn on election night wondering who will be screwing us for the next four years and a screwin is a screwin no matter the perp. We're used to the being screwed though, we got screwed again today. It doesn't hurt like it used to, maybe the butter on the popcorn?

I was truly hoping for a VP candidate to balance BO's image to the left not the right. How anyone can rejoice this abortion of hope is beyond me.

20. obama's most glaring
issue is that he lacks significant executive experience running large organizations and selecting someone like a governor would have addressed that weakness in his administration. the fact that he did NOT select someone with that skill set concerns me. Perhaps his ego is getting in the way: admitting that he has this hole is his team might admit some sort of failing.

Executive experience is something that has to flow from the top 2 roles - #'s 1 or 2 as, in theory, cabinet roles are all equals. Biden's foreign policy experience could have been brought into play in a secretary of state role.

24. How many CEO's have you seen fail in the recent years?
In today's economy coupled with the international issues, we don't need a CEO! Remember, Shrub said that was the way he'd govern the country! Didn't work out too wello, did it?

Our Country now needs someone who can SPEAK INTELLIGENTLY (SONETHING sHRUB NEVER LEARNED), work with people both domestically & internatinally, and be open & honest with the American people.

I see Obama as the person capable of doing that, and I also see Biden as a very big help doing so.

45. when I say executive experience
Edited on Sun Aug-24-08 07:09 AM by melm00se
I mean the ability to manage, direct, resolve conflict, set direction, motivate and build consensus amongst a large group of people. that skill is not something that one is born with, it is a developed skill. from where I am standing, Obama doesn't have it and he should work to plug that gap.

He had that opportunity with his VP selection but for some reason he missed it and that makes me wonder: why?

I am concerned that Obama sees himself as fully capable but that it is his ego and pride speaking. That scares the hell out of me.

46. no, but how about
FDR?
Clinton?
Reagan?
Eisenhower?

these are 4 of the strongest administrations in the 20th century (please don't jump in my shit about Reagan: his policies sucked but his administration was strong, efficient and, from the right wing's point of view, effective) and all of the top dogs had strong experience running large organizations.

As to candidates like Obama, JFK had minimal experience so he plugged that gap with LBJ (governor of Texas).

Obama has 1 very important piece for being a top executive: he has a vision (sometimes the hardest part of have/find), but having a vision is not enough. The ability to execute on that vision is critical and to do that he has to be able to direct his administration and executive branch. That is one big-assed organization and being able to run it effectively is critical.

Ever since Obama went on vacation, I was feeling uneasy about McCain creeping up in the polls and Obama not fighting back hard enough. I was thinking, oh no, shades of Kerry....

Biden gives the campaign a much-needed kick in the butt! I'm looking forward to the verbal barrage. :woohoo:

... even Malloy has apologized at times, for misspeaking.

But Obama IS articulate! That's a plus! ;)

If you don't, check out his speech today in Springfield.

Excellent example of just taking it to them and giving them a whipping.

He's a fighter, he's can speak well and from the heart and even from the street, he'll speak his mind with Obama, he's a workingclass kind of guy.

We could have done a lot worse, and I'm looking forward, with increased energy, to seeing us take all the right arguments to the other side.
