19. I worked for the Army Corps of Engineers for the last ten years
and I finally transferred to the department of interior because the daily grind of seeing desperate military families, young soldiers preparing for war, and injured soldiers coming home just brought me down so much. Add to that the fact that 10% of the Corps was mandated to be in Iraq or Afghanistan and the pain of watching your friends/co-workers go to war in a foreign land... I was probably in depression. The Rah-Rah crowd of the Bush administration NEVER points out the pain of the families whose soldiers have paid the ultimate sacrfice. We spill our young people's blood on foreign soils so Haliburton can add more oil futures to their ledger balances.

There is a Hell, and Bush will go there when its over.

And the young widow in the OP too.

I HATE this regime. Rich men who've never had a clue about real courage in their lives, forcing the worst possible courage-inducing situation on innocent people willy nilly with no regard for anyone but the "haves and have-mores" who never have to fight their filthy wars.

Every Bush voter, every right-wing pundit, every non-voter, every Nader voter, every republic campaign contributor (I leave out the "an" on purpose because they insult us daily by referring to us as the "Democrat Party"), every reporter that looked the other way and didn't ask tough questions, every neocon author, and every loony right wing radio host that supported Bush and Cheney are all contributors to the rape of our Constitution and are in varying degrees responsible for the illegal war in Iraq.

27. The image in your sig file made me turn signatures off. Here's how to do it:
I don't quite understand the image but it's really that repulsive, and I don't come here to get sick to my stomach.
But it could be the effect that you're going for, so I thought you'd be interested to know.

For others who may think like I do, here's how to turn off signatures in posts:
1. Click the options button at the top of the page
2. Click the link in the sidebar "Edit your preferences"
3. Click the "no" radio-button next to "Display Signatures?" (Third option in list)
4. Click the "update" button at the bottom of the page.

Have a nice day!
:hi:

nor will I, not in my lifetime. Our Strykers here locally are due to ship out next month. Instead of "fresh" troops, they renamed the battalion to appear as though it's different.

49. Yes, they'll get us out of Iraq
and deeper into Afghanistan.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/07/20/obama.afghanistan/

The Afghan government needs to do more. But we have to understand that the situation is precarious and urgent here in Afghanistan. And I believe this has to be our central focus, the central front, on our battle against terrorism," Obama said Sunday on CBS' "Face the Nation."
"I think one of the biggest mistakes we've made strategically after 9/11 was to fail to finish the job here, focus our attention here. We got distracted by Iraq," he said.

Obama said troop levels must increase in Afghanistan. "For at least a year now, I have called for two additional brigades, perhaps three," he told CBS. "I think it's very important that we unify command more effectively to coordinate our military activities. But military alone is not going to be enough."

So we will still see pictures of grieving families whose loved ones died in the never ending "war on terror".

57. I find your reply offensive and wonder where your loyalties lie -
to the Democratic Party and the most dynamic Presidential ticket we've had since Clinton/Gore, or with your own narrow agenda.

I place no one on ignore. This post has caused me to begin rethinking that policy.

65. I was merely quoting Obama
if you find his ideas for Afghanistan offensive, don't blame me.

My loyalties lie with a progressive agenda. I'm voting for the Democratic ticket because there is no other viable choice, but I'm under no illusions that either one of them are committed to any real change.
