After winning silver in 2004, American decathlete Bryan Clay knew he wanted gold this time around.

He got it.

Clay won the Olympic decathlon on Friday, capturing gold in the two-day, 10-discipline event with 8,791 points. The 2005 world champion, Clay led the Olympic competition by only 88 points after Thursday's opening events - the 100m, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400m.

But he seized command early Friday, finishing second in the 110-meter hurdles in 13.93 seconds for 984 points, then winning the discus with a throw of 53.79m for 950 more and clearing 5.00m in the pole vault for 910 points.

8. Apparently I missed something.
This might be a broadcast not in real time, or it was a joke, or something I am oblivious to.

But the OP subject line would usually be a spoiler.

Bye.
