This effects everyone’s physical health and the country’s financial health.
With the installation of Gail Norton as Secretary of Interior, Bush began his non-stop attack on the environment as president. He had for eight years been attacking Texas’ environment, and seemed to relish the larger stage. The amount of damage this administration has done, and will be responsible for in the future, because of the hundreds of gutted laws, is incredible. In 2002 he even designated fewer Superfund sites for clean up and shifted the burden of from the polluters to the taxpayers. This is one of many time bombs the Bush administration has kindly put out in the country for us to deal with in the future. (Along with the economic and terrorist incubating time bombs.)

This report from the GAO lays out the cost now to the taxpayer, which is now at 59 percent, up from 17 percent. No one has yet worked out the cost in health care, lost productivity, and lost lives that the 47,000 sites will no doubt induce. But, it does seem to warrant a mention on the cable news shows.
