Reverend Warren: "Don't piss on me and tell me it's raining."
Candidates Got Advance Look at Questions
Responding to questions about whether Sen. John McCain had an unfair advantage over Sen. Barack Obama at Saturday's forum on faith at the Saddleback Church in California, a spokesman for the Rev. Rick Warren said both candidates had an advance look at a few questions.

Spokesman A. Larry Ross said the candidates had agreed that McCain would not listen to Obama's interview, which came first by a coin-flip agreement. But Ross said Warren gave them both a sense of what to expect.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/08/18/AR2008081802434.html?hpid=topnews

Okaaaaaaaaaay! Here's the story about the "forum" as I have followed it so far:

1-McCain was in a "cone of silence" during Obama's portion of the forum. A coin was flipped to decide who would go first(assumption that coin flip was that night).

2-McCain wasn't in a "cone of silence". He was in his motorcade in traffic, in his motorcade in the parking lot, in a "green room" or some combination of those places.
Coin flip still the same.

3-McCain was who knows where, but the coin flip was held a month in advance.

4-And now, both candidates knew about the questions. I don't know about the coin flip. Maybe they really did rock, paper, scissors.

5-Future version: Obama knew the questions and McCain didn't.

The forum shouldn't have been held at Saddleback. It should have been held in Wonderland with Alice because there you could "believe six impossible things before breakfast."
I quit believing any of it after listening to McCain the night of the forum. Now I'm just trying to keep up with the revisions.

I'm sure I left a step out, but it's hard to keep up. spank:

1. Keep on backpedaling, Rick.
Too bad you can't rewind to the point before you came up with this misbegotten idea....

10. I didn't watch Larry King, but as you say....
they ARE so effing predictable. After watching 7 years and more of this crap,

it's so easy to see how their twee minds work. Of course, I don't want to spend

too much time on it because as Nietzsche said,"When you look into an abyss,

the abyss also looks into you."

11. The hard lesson learned. Don't go play on their field. They cheat.
Strange, but Obama's staff in their manic desire to be loved by Evangelicals who have absolutely no desire to vote for him, might as well of just called McCain and said "listen", as Obama went on.

13. I watched the debate. When Warren told Obama, McCain was in a cone of silence
Edited on Tue Aug-19-08 10:54 AM by Joanne98
Obama looked serious. Like he believed him. When Warren asked McCain how the cone of silence was, McCain made a joke and they both laughed.

Obama didn't know. He wasn't in on the joke. Warren is a liar.

15. I agree,
and of course we know who Warren supports. He's a staunch conservative. The whole thing was a joke, but I give Obama kudo's for stepping into the pit of evangelicals.

19. The thing is, not only did McCain get to listen to the questions
McCain, and his staff, got to listen to Obama's ANSWERS. Then McCain's staff got to brief the doddering old fool on his answers in response to Obama's answers. Because McCain isn't intellectually capable of coming up with his own responses. The dumbass can't even figure out how to start up a computer and find the internet without help from his staff.

That's about as crooked as that liar Warren could have made his forum. Some "pastor".

21. How do you not see this coming a mile away?...
...Which is even more disappointing that Obama agreed to this dog-and-pony show without asking for McCain to appear in another forum that favored Obama. "Tit for tat" and the like.

This whole thing seemed like little more than a lose-lose situation for Obama. My feeling is that he wooed little to none of those unsettled by him and only alienated some who were in his base.

That's a big advantage when you can basically rebut your opponent but he can't rebut you.

30. Probably not as hard as one might think. However,...
don't go through this bullshit about "cones of silence" and coin tosses.Don't start wiggling around about who might have known what. People were led to

believe that McCain was was sequestered and that a coin flip just happened. WARREN made such a big deal about those things and that gave a false impression

that McCain was just brilliantly and immediately able to answer questions off the top of his conehead. That's deception and that's lying.

32. Mission Accomplished
Edited on Wed Aug-20-08 06:21 AM by Jake3463
McCain had a good night but was overshadowed by the idiot not following the rules in a forumn he would have a good night in regardless. McCain's good night was overshadowed by allegations he cheated so he can't talk about how great he did all week. McCain did well so now his debate expectations have risen not fallen for September among commentators. Therefore he has to show up and do more than ramble incoherently and not throw a temper tantrum on stage to beat expectations.

Thank you Rick Warren for playing into our hands by trying to give McCain a leg up

Mission accomplished.
