In August my mind turns to Herman Wouk...and "Winds of War" the Book, the MiniSeries...
I've returned to this about every three years since the series first appeared on TV... First I bought all the Videos and then I recommended the DVD's to everyone I knew.

Here's an Amazon Review. If you want History that's not corrupted by commercials...and from an author who is well respected before the Corporatists took over Publishing and our MSM...then you might find this interesting if you like authenticity of scenery and a flavor of a time that you didn't live in but that those who lived in...found authentic.

Amazon Review, here....check it out, if you have time....and if you already saw it...chime in.

1. Also the follow-up "War and Remembrance" was great.
One of the very few book to movies that was really quite well done.

3. I haven't seen a good miniseries since. They
used to make intelligent ones. One of my favorites is Centennial by James Michener. And who can forget Roots?

4. It's been said they spent so much money the Networks couldn't afford any more of them....
Sad...and I agree with what you say...nothing good since the ones you post..and WWW...

They want cheap crap that's easy to produce that they fill with commercials to get more return..

I also liked "Rich Man, Poor Man," if you remember that one.

6. Netflix is a good resource for many of them....
It's amazing to be able to view intelligent dialog....isn't it.
