Willie Brown: Colin Powell MIGHT introduce Obama at Dem convention
Edited on Sun Aug-17-08 04:51 PM by book_worm
Here's a prediction: Colin Powell is going to endorse Barack Obama.

I'm not pulling this out of thin air. I'm basing my forecast on a series of phone calls that I received this week. I can't say who called me, but I can tell you one of the questions I was asked:

"What do you think the reaction would be if former Secretary of State Colin Powell - a Republican - introduced Democrat Obama at his big acceptance speech at Mile High Stadium after being made the nominee?"

My reply: "It would seal the deal. It would be the presidency."

I don't think Powell will go to Denver for the Democratic National Convention, but based on the recent conversations, I have to believe that something big is in the works.

I know at the end Brown says that he doesn't think Powell will go to Denver, but the ? apparently was asked of him what the reaction would be inf Powell did endorse and something big may be up. We have all been wondering who will introduce Obama--I think if Powell is going to do it the convention is the perfect opportunity.

11. you don't think it would be a huge PR coup for Obama?
I know that most people, including me, here at DU don't have a lot of respect for Powell, but among the masses and especially among independent voters I think it would be a big thing. Even Brown thinks it would gurantee Obama the presidency if it happened. I think that is a stretch, but it would still be helpful.

15. I think that the intelligent masses have already decided to support Obama.
We need to reach the dummies now - the racists and scaredy-cats who are afraid to vote for a black man. I don't see how Powell will help sway them.

2. If he does, he will be on the road to redeeming himself for the lies told about this war
Personally, I don't think it will happen

5. Well, whatever it takes to win - but Powell is a worthless whore
I hope this - if it does, indeed, take place - will really seal the deal. But Colin Powell lied to the nation and to the world repeatedly. In a truly just world, he would be on trial at the Hague along with Bush, Cheney, Rice, and Rumsfeld. :puke:

6. He has said that he won't endorse before the convention, but there is always tape
But I think that Teddy is going to announce Barack, either in person or by tape.

7. Would sort of cancel out LIEberman
Don't know if it is important to me if he introduces Obama. Obama has my vote.
Would take wind out of Mc Cains sail--and that is what this is all about isn't it?????

All the convention is is a glorified pep rally with old white folks being the cheerleaders and the pom pom squad.

If showing alice cooper and ozzy ozborne doing nasty things to snakes would bring in lots of votes, can't say that i would mind to much.

that happen. The man who went before the UN and lied his ass off to get us into the worst debacle (Iraq) ever?

12. How soon we've forgotten the role Powell played to
get us into Iraq. The man is a disgrace. If Obama let's Powell nominate him many will vomit.
