surge update-remember iraq?-A double suicide attack has killed at least 19 people and wounded 75
A double suicide attack has killed at least 19 people and wounded 75 in a town near Iskandariya, 50km south of Baghdad, Iraq's capital.

Two female suicide bombers detonated their explosives vests amid a group of Shia pilgrims late on Thursday, police said.

Kazem al-Khafaji, an Iraqi police lieutenant, said the attack was carried out by two women who were standing 50 yards apart.

He said that the second bomber detonated her belt five minutes after the first attack.

1. Glad to see the surge is still working
...as evidenced by the fact that suicide bombing has become equal opportunity employment.

2. Female Suicide Bomber Kills 26 In Iraq
CBS/AP) A female suicide bomber struck Shiite pilgrims south of Baghdad, killing at least 26 people and wounding dozens, police said. It was the deadliest in a series of attacks on travelers heading to the holy city of Karbala for a major religious festival.

The woman blew herself up among a group of pilgrims resting on the side of the road in Iskandariyah as women were cooking dinner, men were praying and children were playing nearby, a witness said.

3. This trend is a very bad indicator
From what I know of Islam, women aren't the natural choice for this sort of thing because of their subjugated status to men. Women also aren't generally given to such bloody acts. I wonder if Sunni extremists are finding it easy to recruit women to this task because the women have nothing else, their conditions are that desperate.

5. CNN will not be interviewing any Iraqi victims
They haven't done interviews with Iraqis who have been bombarded with US weapons once in five years.

The right wing media is too busy with Russia to notice this. Move along.
