14. A shooting war ..
Remember the lifers who said of Viet Nam, "It's not much of a war, but it's the only one we have."? Those were the days.

18. Something that has always bothered me
When we arrived at cam rahn bay it was about 3 in the afternoon and they, for some reason I'll never know, made us set on the plane for a long time before we disembarked. That was when I started to realize that maybe this war isn't what its cut out to be if they are going to leave us in a flying tigers airline dc8 setting there on the tarmac like ducks. The time was long enough to get a full taste of the stifling heat and humity that we were going to be subjected too as the airplanes themselves are not airconditioned, it was somewhere IIRC, close to an hour, give or take 15 minutes. It was but a few days after arriving in country that I realized that I and the rest of Americans were being lied to about the reasons for being there, btw. Yes early on I seen that that war was nothing but a money machine for a few and our lives were but the fuel it ran on.

Now I'm all pissed off again. :-) if you know what I mean.

electric motor assembly plant. The Vietnamese got paid a buck a day to wind and install armatures.

The war was very good to Ford. And General Electric and Bell Helicopter and Hughes Tool; Ya know, this kind of reads like a list of who's making out on this current clusterfuck, too.

16. U.S.: Russia should face consequences for crisis

Gates rips ‘aggressive posture’ in Georgia, says pullback apparently starting

Russian troops move across open ground during a search operation outside of the Black Sea port of Poti, Georgia, on Thursday.

BREAKING NEWS
updated 10 minutes ago

U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Thursday that Moscow should face unspecified consequences for Russia's "aggressive posture" in the crisis-addled former Soviet republic of Georgia, but that the Pentagon does not want a new Cold War with Russia.

"We have been pretty restrained in this," Gates told reporters, but added that the conflict could damage U.S.-Russia relations for years to come.

Amid conflicting reports from the conflict zone, Gates said the Russian military appeared to be pulling its forces in Georgia back toward Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the separatist Georgian regions at the heart of a week-old war between Russia and U.S.-backed Georgia.

Russia's foreign minister declared earlier Thursday that the world "can forget about" Georgia's territorial integrity, strongly suggesting that Russia could absorb the regions where it has supported separatist movements in a goad to Georgia since the election there of a strongly pro-American president.

15. A hot war would do more for their bottom line. In a cold war, you don't constantly
destroy the weapons you build.

A hot war is much better.

Plus, you get that Armageddon rapture bullshit at the end.

I just with they would all skip the intermediate step, kill themselves and rush off to meet their maker, and leave the rest of us in peace.
