US minorities to become a majority by 2042

Because, hey, there's no way that demographic trends in the US are going to change in the next 30 years...

What annoys me about this is that I suspect it's probably actually a fairly reputable and scholarly piece of study being reported, but I've seen several media articles on it, and they all present it as "whites to be minority by 2042".

1. I think this fear of the "shrinking majority" is the fuel
for the fundies growing, virulent opposition to birth control.

2. I don't really agree about that, to be honest.
I think that there are two main reasons that the American right opposes abortion.

The first is that a lot of them really do genuinely believe that life begins at conception and that abortion is killing a human being.

The second is that a lot of them oppose abortion for the exactly the same reason that a lot of left wingers support it: gang warfare. Politics attracts a lot of the same emotions as sport, and a lot of people support or oppose abortion not because of rational consideration of the moral issues, but because that's what "their team" does.

3. I didn't say a word about abortion. I said "birth control".
There's a big difference between the two, from where I sit and you need to educate yourself about the difference between them.

4. Yes, sorry, I read too fast.

One is only a subset of the other. OTOH, abortion is still the only form of birth control that the right wing in America gets really excited about.
