what did the gunman write on the wall?
The killer Johnson had no previous behavioural problems at his job at Target. this one day he goes into work and writes all over the wall, which led to his getting fired.

Wondering- what did he write on the wall?- must have been bad for Target to call the police initially.

-snip-

"According to Conway police spokeswoman Sharen Carter, Target fired Johnson before 8 a.m. Wednesday because he had written on a wall. A manager had called police because of the graffiti but the wall had already been cleaned and Johnson had left by the time officers arrived. "

It might give a clue as to motive for the police to find out.

3. Thanks - from the article:
Johnson's co-worker says graffiti laced with curse words concerning a hallway were found by management. The graffiti said, "This hall is too *** **** narrow."

Store managers called a meeting. We're told they asked if whoever wrote the graffiti to step forward and admit it and he or she wouldn't be fired. Our source says store management later found the same graffiti signed and dated by Johnson.

Over the next hour or so, Johnson's co-worker says he wrote on a door and another hallway again with objectionable words. "Target is run by dumb jocks and sorority *******."

A third graffiti was found on the human resources door saying, "sorority *******." Our source tells us that management talked with Johnson and then Johnson stormed off and left the building.

4. And in case anyone's wondering what the asterisks are...

the hallway was too "goddamn" narrow, and I'm sure everyone can figure out what came after "sorority."

8. I don't know - if 'god damn' gets asterisks, it could be almost anything
7 letters - "ratbags"? Yeah, I can think of plenty worse, but that's about at teh level of 'god damn'.

I figured he had left a threatening message rather than just a juvenile rant.

6. If the manager called the police because of the graffiti then it
must have been something pretty bad like a death threat against Obama. Otherwise they would have just washed it off or painted it over without calling in the police.

I've never heard anyone complain about the width of a hallway. I believe all hallways have to be a minimum width anyway. WTF am I missing.

:wtf:

about the goddamn narrow grocery aisles. Maybe he had to move carts of goods down a hallway that was too narrow.

22. Unless he had personal-space issues
some folks have a personal space of about 5" and don't care if people are in close quarters. Then there are the anti-social types who can't stand humanity within 50 yards. Just throwin' it out there. If the guy had problems with social situations (and it's sounding more and more like he probably did), then indeed shopping aisles would have seemed quite narrow.

Y'never know what's going to set someone off if their brickpile isn't stacked quite level to start with. Just sayin'.

21. Narrow Passage suggests inner panic and depression
I may be way off base, but looking at those messages from a literary and psychological perspective, the discomfort with the narrow passage could relate to a feeling of options narrowing down to none, fear of the future, a sense of futility with the destination....which all makes sense working at a big box retail store. Funny the name is "Target" when you consider that that implies a clear distinct destination, where the person working there might be feeling like the only destination is futile.

We are really seeing the increasing sense of futility in a post iundustrial capitalist system that has reduced meaning to materialism and ownership. Perhaps it was no easier to find meaning in an agraian subsistence or even industrial economy, but there was little time to consider life's meaning and little means to assault rifles etc.

23. I was thinking the same thing. And the anger at sorority girls
might be a sign of misplaced resentment at people who seem to have happier, more affluent lives. The golden sorority girls and their jock boyfriends/husbands living in nice houses, while he works an hourly wage at a big box store.

The distance between the affluent and the desperate is getting greater in this country. People feel panicked and they are looking for a place to focus their rage. The radio and TV announcers give them one - "Liberals."

27. Some say it went like this:
"...I keep picturing all these little kids playing some game in this big field of rye and all. Thousands of little kids, and nobody's around - nobody big, I mean - except me. And I'm standing on the edge of some crazy cliff. What I have to do, I have to catch everybody if they start to go over the cliff - I mean if they're running and they don't look where they're going I have to come out from somewhere and catch them. That's all I do all day. I'd just be the catcher in the rye and all. I know it's crazy, but that's the only thing I'd really like to be."

It all makes sense now, huh?

:smoke:
