How many of you think Focus on the Family was kidding ....
on the video seeking prayers for rain at Obama speech??

Focus on the Family Action pulled a video from its Web site today that asked people to pray for "rain of biblical proportions" during Barack Obama's Aug. 28 appearance at Invesco Field at Mile High to accept the Democratic nomination for president.

Stuart Shepard, director of digital media at Focus Action, the political arm of Focus on the Family, said the video he wrote and starred in was meant to be "mildly humorous."

But complaints from about a dozen Focus members convinced the organization to pull the video, said Tom Minnery, Focus Action vice president of public policy.

"If people took it seriously, we regret it," Minnery said Monday

I'm sure they still have some campaign to spread it around.

With all the areas in the country that are having severe droughts,

they should be praying for rain in those areas. I hope they all get

caught in a gullywasher somewhere.

2. What is most interesting is that they pulled it because of
complaints by their own members. :o

15. Yes, that's the part that jumped out at me too!
I wonder if they were members who just thought it was childish and stoopid (as it was), or if they might actually be Obama supporters?

17. They may have cited it for being unChristian, which is what that kind of
wishing someone ill fortune is. It would be cool if they are Obama supporters, though fairly unlikely given the strong stances of FotF and how they tend to run along the lines of the GOP rather than the Dems.

3. May the monsoon pick up again, move north
and a frog strangler cut a new canyon and wash all their offices away.

Of course, if that actually happened I'd have to reconsider my atheism.

It might signal some sort of weather spirit out there was getting sick of the blasphemy and hate coming out of those people.

4. Not me, but I am curious why
a blatantly hateful, zealous religious organization that profits from tax exemptions has a POLITICAL ARM.

Dontcha just love it when a warped minded zealot attempts to be "mildly humorous." Wow if a whole bunch of evil liberals were killed in the biblical flood that would be fucking hilarious.

Obama and the DNC need a one-liner on par with "they take pride in being ignorant" to shut down this rain (non-)issue.

Seriously, what the hell?! What is the rain supposed to mean? That the earth and people living in it need it to survive?

16. i thot it was a joke
I think it was pretty apparent the piece was done in jest. Compared to some of the other hateful, nasty stuff directed at obama it was pretty mild. I was surprised, as were they no doubt, that some of their own members were upset at the not so serious attempt at humor. I think the war is starting to take its toll.

One of the in roads Obama was going to make to the church going crowd was with the people tired of the war, and all the death and destruction that goes along with it. Also with the christians who are more like christ than the ones you may sit next to in church.

Maybe some of those Christian fundamentalist, are a little more like christian pacifist.

a little more like Jesus.

amen to that.
