Check this s*** out
My 11 YO stepson comes back from a week of camp and blurts out this important info: "Guess what? The Iraq war is actually a GOOD thing!" Followed by the usual RW talking points about Saddam Hussein and how the terrorists would have come here if we hadn't invaded.

!@#$!@#$!$%&#$!%&!#$^&!#&$^!#*$%#!$%

There are not enough characters on the keyboard to describe my anger.

Needless to say the camp is going to hear from me.

5. It could have been worse
He could have returned, telling about how he was molested by a camp counselor.

Maybe this will teach people to take care of their own kids and value their company, instead of trying to get rid of them at every available opportunity.

7. I didn't know that Dr. Laura posted on DU.
It's wrong to send a kid to camp for a week? Quit being so judgmental and lighten the fuck up dude.

8. I guess I'm really horrible
My kids went to camp for the entire summer. However they came home with ideas even further left than mine. It's important to feel out the sentiments of the camp. Political discussions on world and domestic issues was part of their camp's program.

For some who may not realize it-kids get bored during the summer when they have no school and in these times, it's the rare household that doesn't have both parents working.

10. after my husband got laid off (after 23 years of loyal service)
he had to take a job that paid a lot less so that we could pay our bills, and have health insurance for our kids. I also had to go back to work full time. my kids are home all summer. If I could afford to send them to camp for a week or two, you bet I would. And for the record, I love my kids' company, I think they are a joy; but they want food. and clothes. Selfish brats!
Peace.

11. summer camps are usually great opportunities
for kids to learn about all sorts of things depending upon the camp. Not only are there the boy/girl scouts, but there are sports camps..band camps ect.

Do you have kids? And if you do, do you work? Do you send them to daycare or do you have a nanny?
