Rode in my first all electric car today
Guy at Lowes had one of these:

http://www.zapworld.com/

It was the Xebra Sedan. White. I talked to the owner and he told me they were 11 thousand and he was very happy with his. He gave me a ride around the lot and it rode nice. Very peppy too.

It will go 40 miles at 40 MPH top speed. No air conditioning. No heater. He said he was thinking about trying a kerosene heater in it this winter. They are licensed like a motorcycle so it has cute little motorcycle plates on it. It only has three wheels so I am guessing the 40MPH limit may be related to stability and handling at higher speeds?

Kind of neat though. And they will get better.

Don

1. Cool!
I can deal with no air - don't have any now, but no heat? Brrrrrrr. But like you said, "They will get better."

Check these units out:

Thanks for sharing!

4. No heat? Eh. But no defroster? Nah uh. Been there.
Three wheelers are generally stable, but it's better to have two wheels in front than in the back. I think the cars look far more attractive too - though the tango is the exception. Looks like a boot.

But these are pretty hot:

2. The 40 MPH limit is related to battery capacity
Generally, the slower you go, the farther you'll go on a charge.

I see plenty of gas powered 3 wheelers here on the highways. Stability doesn't seem to be a huge problem for them.

3. I drove a Tesla a couple of weeks ago.
My adrenal gland is still pumping.

And the woman that let me drive it was smokin' hot, works for the company.

That car was some kind of quick.

5. I loved your review
and when they come out with a nice, boring sedan I'll be on the list for one.

In the meantime, I ride an electric moped a lot of the time. It's quick, too.

6. I saw a really cool electric moped this morning.
I was quite surprised by how quick it was.

What kind do you have? I don't know anything about them, but I was intrigued by the one I saw.

8. I got mine 5 years ago
http://www.egovehicles.com

The baskets on the back will carry 2 standard grocery bags. My biggest load was 2 full canvas bags plus 2 cases of soda on the footrest, not the smartest thing in the world but I was on back streets and survived the experience.

7. That's a pretty close description of the golf carts a lot of people out here use
to run to the lakeside stores. I guess they won't quite hit 40 mph, more like 25 which is fine for the mile or 2 we go.
They aren't completely 'street legal' but the agencies have decided to let us use them in the local area, just not on the highway. A little $25 propane catalytic heater works fine for winter and in the summer we take off the sides
