Jane Mayer-WH Quiet-But-Insiders Say: “You know, you got it. Thank goodness someone told the story.”
Mayer said that the White House has refused to comment, although many of her sources within the administration have praised the work:

No, there has been just plain radio silence. Though, I can say, I’ve actually heard from some of the sources. This book is not just based on talking to critics of the administration. It’s talking to lots of people on the inside: inside the White House, inside the CIA and the FBI and the military. And it’s been really gratifying. I’ve actually gotten some really wonderful phone calls from people who’ve said, “You know, you got it. Thank goodness someone told the story.” So that actually has really made me feel good.

1. Funny how corpmedia downplays or ignores completely an book devastating to BushInc.
When Kitty Kelley's book on Bush family came out in Sept 2004, all the media's efforts went to attacking her credibility, downplaying the facts, or ignoring the book completely. For the first time in her career as an author, Larry King refused to allow Kelley on, though she had been a regular on his show for well over a decade.

And some here STILL want to believe the corpmedia has never been complicit and does NOT work to protect the fascist agenda of BushInc. You'd have to be a drooling idiot to not see the pattern of protection over the past ten years, let alone the last two decades.

4. From what I have observed, 9-11 gave corpmedia the cover to unmask as the PR dept for fascist agenda
and the New World Order masters. Just as BushInc intended for decades.

7. I think it happened before that
In 1996 Ted Turner sold CNN to CorpMedia. CNN was the last significant independent news source. At that point, with all significant media under the control of ultra-extreme right-wing corporate overlords, there was no one left to keep them even making a show of evenhandedness and honesty.

Of course, they didn't just suddenly jump to the extremely sorry state of affairs that we have today. They shifted gradually so the proles wouldn't notice, but it's been obvious to anyone paying attention for more than a decade.

8. Oh sure - but, they still at LEAST wore their 'we're real newspeople' masks.
9-11 allowed them to unmask and show their servitude to BushInc and its fascist agenda. They don't show ANY SHAME whatsoever - look at Fournier and Gregory.

5. OK....bear with me on this, but is Tammy Haddad going for the Chris Farley Idiot of the Year Award,
or what?

Q: Jane Mayer is the author of The Dark Side, headline-making book. It's the inside story of how the war on terror turned into a war on American ideals. You know her from the New Yorker and some incredible books, including Strange Justice: The Selling of Clarence Thomas. Remember that book, Jane?

Mayer: I do, indeed.

Q: And Landslide: the Unmaking of the President, 1984-1988, remember that one?

Mayer: Uh, barely. It's so long ago.

6. The CIA needs to get out of the paramilitary business.
I was assigned to a paramilitary unit and worked with some of the people involved. Some of these people are sadistic psychopaths. They are the kind of people that would enjoy torturing people. They need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

I don't buy some of the apologist crap that is coming out of DC. These people are flaming assholes and need to be made accountable for their actions.

9. I was thinking how they HAVE to write a book to get their
stories out. What newspaper would put Mayers or Suskinds sories any place but say B-31 in a corner slot. Yes it's fascism.
