Edwards comment on why he didn't have Elizabeth at the interview. I thought that he showed some courage in this apology. He didn't try to hide behind Elizabeth as Bill did behind Hillary.

It didn't reek of Clintonian parsing - he was totally straight forward about it and hid behind no one including Elizabeth.

Tho' this has nothing to do with B & H -- the Edwards' is an entirely separate, and essentially private-gone-public experience.

Their crime is that they took a chance, and the chance didn't involve only them, but also their supporters and the Dem party. In a better world the chance would be very small, hardly a blip - since all parties in this blip are adults and doing well by each other. But, this is a world where Karl Rove makes the scene, and not only makes the scene but defines the moving force behind the current administration and how "winning politics" has worked. In this world there was too much of a risk for a candidate to take alone.

IMO this isn't even close to being a career ender for John Edwards. There's reason for Dems to be pissed off, yah, but I'd give him, like, "6 months probation", just to make the point. Then I'd forget it.
