Amazon.com, the last dog to hang on "anncoulter.com": here's the story:
It appears that Amazon has no direct links to their corporate offices, and no one with their service arm has authority to route them your call, so here's what I did.

I got their "call back" system to get with me, and I literally talked the poor schmuck on the line to death until he passed me up the food chain. He kept spouting the "company line" about "writing them a letter" ("snail mail" type) but convinced him that this was not something that they needed to wait on until the morning mail on Monday.

I got with a district manager and encouraged him to "be a hero" and TALK with someone, call them directly etcetera. He assured me that they had already received numerous contacts (about 5 of them likely mine) and that he would contact higher ups immediately.

Two things: Amazon links are from CUSTOMER as an associate to AMAZON, so they will need some time to break the link due to legal anti-discrimination issues (ain't THAT a hoot. They have to be careful NOT to discriminate against a BIGOT.) They assured me that it had been 18 hours since the first contact, and that the wheels were rolling.

Second thing: I don't know if it's a "good thing" or a "bad thing" that the first young man I spoke to had no idea who Coulter was. This is not something that if you had your head more than an inch or two out of the sand you could actually MISS. The supervisor was vaguely aware of this, but "...I don't like to get involved in politics, I usually just ignore it..." THIS is most definitely a "BAD THING." These were both young men; and I got a lot of that in the 200 plus calls and many more emails I've sent on this issue (I am after all, unemployed and disabled at the moment. I have to do something useful or go nuts). Hearing that many people who not only were unaware of this incident, but didn't even know who JOHN EDWARDS even was, well, it scares the shit clean out of me.

Well anyway, Amazon APPEARS to be operating in good faith. I figure the next 12 or so hours will tell.

2. I told them the main reason for my continued nagging: I actually LIKE them.
I like doing business with them.

Hey, being homebound for the last 10 weeks, I've been getting small things every couple of days (I have a PRIME membership that I got back when I had a JOB and a working right arm). Shipping is free on most stuff, so a $5 dvd or book is ACTUALLY $5!

What a concept. To be fair, it did cost me an upfront membership fee, but I've gotten that back in discounts and shipping a couple of times over.

We'll see if they're taking this Coulter issue seriously, though. Time will tell.

6. We need to keep an eye on Coulter
Vito Coreleone said, "Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer." Hitler got where he did by people not paying attention.

8. I very much agree.
I've read a number of her columns and her books. It's best to keep informed and enlightened so I can make an intelligent informed argument if needed. I don't believe in dismissing things out of hand without reading or understanding that which you would protest against. There's too much of that going on with the Radical Right at the moment.

3. umm -- she has ads to PrescriptionDrugPlanet.com on her site now
AND SpeedyHealth.com. Both at the very top of the page.

Now she's dealing drugs? Wonder if Rush has the same links :eyes:

Also ads that link thru a company called AdBrite.com. Lower left.

5. Can't get them to come up...reloaded 10 times
Got the "AdBrite" link though. Guess she can contract with whoever she wants to try and market her filth: it's still a moderately free country.

I care very little about the "Stone memorial" link, though. I will keep an eye out for when the AMAZON like departs.

11. I used to LOVE Amazon and then I worked for them during the last
Christmas holiday. Changed my perspective completely.

Years ago (at least 10) I taught a class to small businesses on the internet, the wave of the future, must change marketing, yadda, yadda, yadda and I used Amazon as a perfect example of how times were changing for businesses and small businesses need to get on board. That two guys were running an international bookstore out of their garage. The American dream alive and well.

I was excited when I got the call they had an opening. I was wanting a full-time position (need health insurance) but was told that I would need to go in as a temp during the holiday rush to "get my foot in the door" kind of a thingy. My work hours were 5 am until 6 pm - with two 10 minute breaks and 30 minutes for lunch (I also had an hour drive each way). We worked seven days a week for over a month because of the Christmas rush. Our lives were not our own. If we didn't want to work that many hours, too damn bad. If we were a minute late it was duly noted on our "employee file." If we didn't move fast enough, another note. We were literally treated as slaves if we choose to stay. I realize I could have walked out at any time but I was still trying to get that "carrot" of a full-time with bennies job. Long story short, I was on time, never left early, got sick, worked my ass off and was laid off on December 29th because "they tell everyone there is a full-time job if you just hang in there" as a way to staff the place during peak times.

Amazon, despite my idea they are "different," is just another Republic shill company that has no concerns for employees. Just make another buck for the stockholders. Their employees are a commodity that can easily be replaced at will.

I WAS a good, steady, customer for Amazon. I haven't bought a damn thing since. It is hard to find home grown bookstores and their prices are higher (so I borrow a lot more from the library) but they get my business now. Amazon is just another WalMart in my opinion with just a little bit better pay scale.

I'm not surprised that they would advertise with Coultergiest. And I am not especially surprised you would have trouble getting a "higher up" to take your complaint. They don't do complaints. They are AMAZON.

7. LOL. I see an ad for: Online Pharmacy - Hydrocodone from $0.58!
LOL

If only it were Oxycontin, then the irony would be limitless. :D

I still find it ironic that the only ad that comes up on her site is for something similar to what Rush was addicted to. LOL

BTW. Keep up the good work. I've been hassling my local paper about it too. Decatur Herald & Review. They run her column weekly. If you feel like raising some hell with them, they are on Media Matter's list.

10. which coulter link are you using?
I don't get the ad. I'd gladly call them if I could verify the ad. I'd much rather say "I saw..." than "Someone I know saw..." just to give it more oomph.

9. When discussing Coulter, it's important to remember that CPAC was just a small blip on the radar
She followed-up the next day with things that were even worse:

The Hitler vs. Coulter Quiz

For this quiz I've replaced some of Hitler's pro-Aryan and anti-Semitic language with the words, "America", "Democrat", "liberal", and "the liberal media" to make the Coulter quotes a little more difficult to spot.

Can you correctly attribute the following quotes?
