2. I think what bothers some people is that any scandal that helped the GOP
could increase the chances of more death-by-GOP-policies (Iraq, Iran, health care). And the GOP and media would have had an even bigger field day with it if he was the Pres or VP nom, whether or not it's fair or important. That is what makes it more important than just an affair - potential harm to the chances of defeating McCain in the fall.

My 2c.

before he was divorced from his first wife and gosh - doesn't that mean he was committing a mortal and venal sin and therefore should be castrated and castigated publicly and in the town's square?
