Being egotistical and narcissistic is no excuse for fucking with your vote!
John has his own karma to deal with on his affair - that's his and Elizabeth's private matter.

What I can't fathom is how John was so cavalier with the votes of all those who worked tirelessly for his nomination; and ultimately, the potential implosion of our party's chances to win this fall had he been the nominee.

He may have been culpable to Elizabeth, but can this man ever realize the depth of his betrayal to Democratic voters?

1. So he shouldn't have ran before he cheated? I don't buy that. Now with that said, I was disappointed
that he didn't come forward with the truth when the story broke in October.

Obviously he thought this was a personal issue, and by the time he becamse a Presidential candidate the affair was over and he had already told Elizabeth, and thus ran.

I'm proud I supported him. I just wish he would have came clean a long time ago.

4. If he had told the truth when asked originally, things may have been different....
It is a personal issue - but everybody who runs for president knows this type of thing is vetted eventually. Being an open book is part of the price one pays to become our president - he should have told the truth from the beginning. Whether it would have effected his choice to run may will never be known, but his supporters deserved to make that choice.

2. A man is judged by his ideas, not his failings
I never supported Edwards, but I believe he served a vital role in bringing light to the issues facing the average American in an age of increasing corporate influence over our government.

And for that I thank him, as it wouldnt have been an issue had he not run.

3. Actually, most men are judged by their ACTIONS
That is the crux of the matter here.

5. Edwards himself said that pol's personal lives reflect what kind of prez they will be
Basically saying the private lives are fair game. Funny...then why not fess up to the affair during his campaign?????

And I think it is a fair evaluation for America to engage in to look at what kind of human beings each of us are, and what kind of president we'd make.

6. In what way did his "actions" impact you personally?
He's not the nominee, he's not an office holder, he's just a private citizen who has already been forgiven by the only person it did impact, his wife.

Be grateful for the message he brought forward.

7. No scare quotes necessary - they are actual actions
And no, they didn't impact me. He's being judged for them anyway.

8. His actions are impacting every Democrat in this country
personally, because once again, the image of morally slippery Democrats is being projected to voters. Maybe infidelity means nothing to you, but for most people it is a huge indicator of a lack of character.
