Many great men in history have had affairs
Martin Luther King Jr., the Kennedys, etc.

I could give a shit less what Edwards does with his penis. It's the appalling lack of common sense he displayed that bothers me.

I'd almost be willing to bet MOST average men have had affairs.

I'm not married, so I can't have them. :)

3. and many great women who helped them succeed were harmed by it.
Intelligence, vision and charisma does not give you a license to harm the people who love you.

5. MLK and JFK were not espousing marriage as being only being between
a "man and a woman"...his hypocrisy is one thing and then, cheating on his wife in the medical condition she's in, which was not the case with either of the aforementioned... that's the ultimate.

wasn't Nelson Mandela a womaniser? Or have I got that wrong?

It's a very, very wordly profession and very stressful, and does not attract mature people. They have to grow into it, if they are essentially good people, however erratically.
