Do you make a distinction between Edwards' affair and Bill's?
Edited on Fri Aug-08-08 03:52 PM by Duppers
I'm reluctant to admit that I do. Has something to do with the degree of hypocrisy and their spouses.

I think Hillary knows what she had and loves Bill anyway. I'm much less sure that Elizabeth Edward knew she had a 'wanderer.'

They're both very tough women with amazing grace. I love both couples and will get over my extremely disappointment in JE.

2. Bill's a hounddog. He had countless affairs. You don't know what went on in either marriage.
Despite the way it "seems."

3. Yes I do
Edwards wasnt a public official when he was playing around, nor was he engaged in his sexcapades in an office owned by all of us like Bill's adventures.

Bill's affair was on the job.

4. Yes.
Elizabeth's illness makes Edwards's affair extra-special scummy. ("Remission" doesn't count.)

10. Lots of marriages do not contain infidelity
The alpha male idea nails it correctly. But who wants to be MARRIED to an animal?

6. Adultery is pain
I'd have left Bill and I would leave John.

I just can't forgive it. No more trust, and you are supposed to be able to trust your life partner. I'd be looking over my shoulder and being insecure from then on.

Best to move on, in my book, and to take my children with me and show them that strong women don't stay with cheating asshole men (or vice versa).

But lots would argue that it is best to keep the family together. I don't know. Maybe if you are a really good actor or if you really can forgive it, yes.

8. No - different situations and different people
Each case is different - the act doesn't really bother me as much as the disingenuous song and dance denying the affairs afterwords is what bothers me most.

Edwards should have come clean about this before the Primaries, but he continued to deny it knowing full well that things would reach a point that they would boil over and this would all come unglued. I don't believe its any of our business, but the media and the GOP thrive on this type of thing and the average American voter is too swayed by these "shocking" allegations so they let it affect them at the polls.

extramarital sex is extramarital sex. being a well-known horndog doesn't change anything.

the more pressing issue to me is that they both lied about it.

they can't get away with lying about their dicks, but newt, rush, george the first, denny fatasstert and any random repuke seems to just wave their pecker around at will with no media attention.

16. 'capabilities'? yes, absolutely!
but, being an empathetic female, I looking at this in a personal way and through their spouses' eyes.

Knowing the proclivities of the dumbass american people, this revelation would have killed JE's campaign had he gotten the nomination.

And in some sense, he wasted MY money, the money I sent to his campaign--he deceived ME.

How could he have thought that this revelation would never have come out? :grr:
