Who will be the first to pledge.....
that if a Repuke cheats on his wife in the future they will say it's none of our business?

There are a lot of posts her excusing inexcusable behavior of a possible Presidential candidate.

The thing is, once it is made public it can't help but affect peoples opinions. So if a republican cheats on their wife and it is made public I will think less of them, the same as with Edwards. But the reality of it is, this is between the politician and his family. If for some reason the mate is okay with it, then public should never know. On the other hand, if they have broken the trust of their family and it causes a divorce then it probably is something for public airing. But there are other factors too, is this a person that is a hypocrite proclaiming family values while cheating? did he father a child? how public was the affair? and so on. It is complicated. I don't trust our media to make the right decisions on whether or not it should be public either. Seems repukes get an easier time with it (vitter). I just think the public has no right to know unless there is a reason they should know.

12. Even if the spouse is okay
with the situation and it is worked out.

YOu can make a most excellent argument that the trust of the family and certainly of his wife was broken, and this I believe is not in consequential.

This is why it becomes somewhat more important when a political figure who either hold a high public office our is running for it. It does become to a degree a matter of character and a legitimate question.

That is why the public has a right to no about some of these things.

Blow jobs in the Oval Office demean the office of the presidency that should not be debatable (impeachment on the other hand was an over reach by the GOP and it has cost them as it right should have).

Edwards lied to the public while running for president and much like Gary Hart 20 years ago he go caught.

He should not get a pass just because he is a Democrat.

We all now that if this story had a last name of Romney of Huckabee we would be reacting much differently.

To paraphrase Tommy Lee Jones from The Fugutive, "I. Don't. Care."
