If Edwards were a Republican, he would be crying about "God"
right now, and all the GOP jackasses would be yelling about forgiveness.

Seriously. What's up with the double standard?

1. Dems are held to a higher standard, dontcha know.
:eyes:

I guess there are so many Republicon sex scandals, when a Dem commits a transgression, it's everyone's business.

4. Seriously--it's bizarre. When I think of all the creepy "page boy"
scandals, and hookers---drugs---etc--

Then one stupid blowjob eleven years ago, and Dem men are targets for the media.

God, I hope Obama keeps it in his pants.

7. Sadly, it's just the way things work in our political system anymore
It's a shame, but Edwards really should have known better or at least put this out in the open from the beginning - a la David Patterson.

I didn't lose respect for Edwards because he had an affair - I lost respect for Edwards by underestimating his opponents and still putting himself out there for a backlash. The timing is horrible and the media will find every way in the world to tie Obama into this - as ludicrous as it sounds.

Most of all, I'm just sorry for Elizabeth. We don't know the details, but I somehow doubt that she knew anything about this. Just a hunch.

11. Well, hopefully they worked things out amicably

That's between them - but Edwards came out and denied these allegations during the primary many times when it came up. He still put himself out there with the knowledge that he had this giant skeleton in his closet - one that the GOP makes serious political capital by beating to death in their echo chamber.

I thought he was a better politician and leader than that. Hell, David Patterson came out the day he was inaugurated and disclosed his affairs just to cut that avenue off should the GOP choose to seize on it later on.

9. Republican sex offenders Hall of Shame
Here's a link to republicans who can't keep their sexual perversions to themselves. Onward "Christian" soldiers...

http://www.republicansexoffenders.com/

You'd think the astonishing size of this roster (much larger on other sites--Google "Republican Sex Offenders") would cause at least some of these mouth-breathing primitives to shut up and scuttle off into the gutters that spawned them.
