They had other, more important things to attend to.

3. because they have to play the victim for their base
many of whom also love playing the victim. They're all rebels and suffer from the injustice of taxation, affirmative action, and liberal policies don't you know. Never mind the facts that they were in power long enough to actually get things done, nor the fact that they seldom vote against party lines as a group.

4. Because they were waiting until they could get gas to $5 a gallon first.
It's all a planned out big oil scam to fleece the rubes.

Guillotine the power elite.

5. Because it is the only issue they poll well on now...
They know damn well it wont impact gas prices and put more oil on the market for 10-15 years. They know its a drop in the bucket. They know that even with more oil, there is no refinery capacity to process it into gasoline.

The sole reason they are doing it is because that is the only issue they have to run on for reelection. They 'feel your pain' and if you elect them they will fight that Democrat SF liberal who want gas to be expensive so your family suffers.

9. I agree...
They certainly are not doing a good job. I've heard them make the argument, but they are not hammering at it and it is not getting good traction in the MSM.

7. Well, the Neocon Plan for Iraq Memo #34567 expressly stated
that by this time "the Iraq war would be paying for itself in oil".

Oops.

8. Because they never thought their brand would be this bankrupt
months before the 2008 elections. Put simply they need a new gimmick.
