1. It's like . . . 200 to 1 against the ad.
Make that 201 to 1.

4. More than a few DUers thought it would backfire
Great.

The worst part of this ad was hearing McShameless suggest that it is funny. It is OMFG stupid.

5. Wow, great positive ad for Obama from McCain
I hope Barack has called to thank Johnny boy for the wonderful accolades bestowed on him by his competition.

7. If I weren't a godless atheist, I'd be deeply offended.
Then again, I'm deeply offended at the sheer idiocy of this piece of shit. It's probably the most tasteless commercial I've seen in my life. McCain crossed way over the line, probably with all demographics with this one. This commercial tells us more about McCain than anyone else, and what it says is this man is not fit to lead this country. McCain may has well have smeared JFK, MLK, Ghandi, or even Jesus in this commercial. Now I'm not saying Obama is Jesus, but I'm trying to get across how unwarranted and senseless this attack on Obama is. It is a huge mistake for McCain to presume he could actually pull off a smear this baseless on a man with the character, dignity and respect that Barack Obama has earned.

8. Sorry
This won't mean much to all those who weren't alive or too young to remember when John McCain and some of his fellow prisoners came home from Vietnam. At that time most of us celebrated everyone who made it out of there particularly if they had been prisoners. Even those of us against the war were happy when they came home. After that the rest is history and he built his career on being a prisoner of war and the rest of the prisoners just faded away from view, only McCain stayed on the world stage and he was applauded.

Listening to him through the years and watching his votes it became evident that he was detached from either himself or this country. People were shocked that he repeatedly voted over and over again against the MLK Day, as well as some of his other votes.

I don't know what happened to him during his years in prison camp and that's pretty much debated what actually happened, but he clearly has some kind of mental lapses these last few years. He jokes so he doesn't have to answer questions and makes locker room buddies of the press. His ads are just a continuation of those jokes so no one questions his gaffes or what he doesn't seem to know or his mental lapses, everyone is talking about his "against Obama" locker room jokes passing for ads. It's sad really and sadder still that some fall for those pitiful attempts to by pass what is happening in this country. Time will tell if this country is up to a real person as a President, thus far we haven't been.

9. The ad isn't meant for the rabble like us
This ad is aimed squarely at the fundy evangelical second coming types who read the left behind books and the late great planet earth books as if they're tomorrow's Super Bowl results today. McCain is clearly aligning Obama with the antichrist.

Over the top? To every rational person in the United States, yes. But to the target audience, this is a clarion call. And the underlying message is "Go ahead and shoot this uppity nigger before he causes a lot of problems like war in the Middle East, soaring commodity prices, and carnage in the streets." As if none of those things are already happening authored by the left hand of the current squatter in the Oval Office and his infernal minions.

anyway, the ad compliments something FOX has been doing.

I think it probably works (present company excepted)

16. Those comments made my day
and now I can go out and face the world knowing even GOPs had the sense to be offended by this stuff.

I'm wondering what happened. Did Mark Penn go to work for him?

The tone deafness of this campaign is astonishing.
