Background: Around this time last year there was some Republican event where all the potential Republican candidates showed up to give little speeches. Some kind of prayer meeting or some shit.
This was back when Obama was polling better than John McCain- among Republicans.
So they go through the whole list and finally they let McCain talk, because they feel sorry for him. And he goes on this really bizarre rant about how the Republican nominee in 2008 should be Bush. I mean it really looks like he's gone of script, making shit up as he goes along, really not remembering there are term limits, blathering on about what a wonderful president Bush is.
He looked absolutely bat shit insane.
It made the evening news. It made the Daily Show. It made DU. People had a good laugh about it, then forgot about it. Because it was clear McCain was irrelevant and would never be the nominee.
And I haven't seen it since, even though it would be absolutely killer video in this campaign. That doesn't make any sense to me. I'm sure somebody's got the video somewhere. And the only way that makes sense to me is if people want to hold off on it until later, because it's so damaging.
Which brings me back to this red scaffolding video. They've been showing brief clips on KO, sans audio, of McCain speaking at some event where there's this scaffolding on the stage brightly lit with red lights. And I think they had that same set design at the event I'm thinking of. Although I'm not sure. I'm wondering if this is some sort of teaser.
