44-pound cat's owner had lost her home to foreclosure
so that explains how one very large kitty came to be wandering the streets. Of all things, I sure never thought this would turn out to be Bush's fault!!

South Jersey's feline darling would be better called Prince Chunky, according to a veterinarian who examined the 44-pound stray this morning on Live with Regis and Kelly.

But the modified title is unlikely to take hold now that shelter officials know Princess Chunky's real name is Powder, as 'foster mother' and Camden County Animal Shelter volunteer Deborah Wright of Sicklerville told the show's hosts.

Shelter officials received a call from the owner, a senior citizen who lost her home to foreclosure and is now staying with friends. Because of her circumstances, the owner said she was "vey sad" she could no longer care for the 44-pound cat, shelter executive director Jennifer Andersch said in a telephone interview this morning....

"She's just a sweetheart," Wright said. "Whoever had her before did take very good care of her."

Herewith, the latest victim of the mortgage bubble:

1. For Chrissake
A douchebazooka of a pet owner isn't Bush's fault. It was an act of cruelty to simply toss him on the streets.

2. To turn out a sick (yes that cat is sick) cat to fend for itself is a bad thing to do

foreclosure or no foreclosure..

It would have been kinder to take the cat to a shelter BEFORE she lost her house, than to just "let it go"..

Pets are like toddlers.. they NEED tending, and cannot "fend for themselves"..(for very long at least)

and

"..."Whoever had her before did take very good care of her."..."

really?

overfeeding an animal is not taking "good care" of it..

3. Cat overfed, or truly sick?
We don't know just yet.

The fat cat has seen a veterinarian to get her rabies shots but will have a more extensive appointment to check for thyroid conditions when she returns from her appearances.

I once knew a tabby who tipped the scales at around 35 lbs. He was not overfed, that I ever saw, just big: his son and daughter both went 20 lbs.-plus. (Mom was around 12 lbs. but looked small in context)
