The interesting candidate and the boring candidate.

I hear a lot of complaints from the American left about how the media hates Obama, and a lot of complaints from the American right about how the media fawns over him. I'm sure there's an element of truth to both of these - at least some media organs will be pro-Obama, and at least some will be anti-him.

But I've heard very few people talking about the media being pro- or anti-McCain.

Whether or not the Democrats have the better candidate, it's very clear indeed that they've got the more interesting and newsworthy one.

That's not necessarily and advantage, but I think it probably is. If the election is a referendum on Obama, one might argue that it's probably his to lose.
