5. You lie like a rug!
There's a little yellow star right next to you name.

:)

Oops. Perhaps it was a gift. My bad.

11. You are so funny! I didn't even think about my DU star!
I was referring to stars in the sky. You know, the buy a star and have it named after you? IMO, that is the craziest thing a person could do to throw away money.

Good catch with the star by my name though. I can see why you called me a liar. But I'm not!

12. I just think it is a waste of precious money...which I don't have a lot of.
Let the rich buy these 'offsets'. What ever that really means.

7. I don't buy them. I prefer
to lighten my carbon footprint. My electricity is from the sun, my car burns biodiesel, I ride my bike instead of drive when I can, and I avoid meat. It's just a start.

14. I just try to be a responsible person
by conserving , buying local produce etc, recycling, and reusing . I bought some really good buffalo roast and burgers from a local farmer , and eggs from the guy down the road.

I does what I can with what I's got

16. I own 100 acre forest, so I could be a seller, not a buyer.

But I'm not because I wasn't going to cut it down anyway. If some business -- and I am shocked to learn individuals are buying offsets -- wants to buy offsets instead of doing something real, fuck 'em. They can buy their own land and plant their own trees.

Of course, someone else will sell to them instead. But at least then it may actually lead to the preservation of some forest that might otherwise have been harvested.

Sadly, if the state and national parks haven't already figured out they can sell the carbon offsets of trees they were established to preserve in the first place, they will at some point.
