Dem Nick Lampson files legislation to drill in ANWR
This email I got from Tom DeLay's District 22 replacement just PISSES me off. :grr: :grr:

And any Dem who goes along with further fossil fuel development and subsidies pisses me off right along with Nick. Further, Lampson's projected reserve figures are straight out of the oil companies' mouth. Nowhere does he mention that increasing fuel mileage is far more key, and nowhere does he mention that this oil won't be in for YEARS AND YEARS and that once it gets in, it's only a few months worth of American gluttonous supply.

What the Dems need to do is to take away the subsidies they currently give poor old Big Oil and use them to fast track further research into renewables.

Fucking Dem acting like a puke.

:grr: :grr:

Dear Friend,

Last week I introduced The Domestic Drilling Act (H.R.6593) and The Consumer Energy Supply Act (H.R. 6578) to address our energy security needs in both the short- and long-term. As we find ourselves competing with rapidly growing nations such as China and India for energy, it is clear that we must increase supplies to reign in skyrocketing prices. Both pieces of this legislation would increase domestic supplies of energy and put more oil on the market. The need to increase domestically produced resources is urgent and should include all sources – from oil and gas to wind.

The Domestic Drilling Act (H.R.6593) would lift the Congressional moratorium on drilling for both the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). With an estimated 86 billion barrels of oil and 429 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, and the potential resources and royalties, drilling in the OCS will help reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Additionally, ANWR contains an estimated 10.4 billion barrels of much needed oil. Twenty five percent of the revenues generated by drilling in these areas would be used to promote research and development for clean domestic energy and renewable energy. This funding will expedite America’s path to energy independence and security today while creating new energy industries to grow the nation’s economy in the future.

Additionally, I introduced The Consumer Energy Supply Act (H.R. 6578) with short-term relief and national security in mind. Based on recommendations made by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and the Department of Energy (DOE), this legislation would direct the DOE to modernize the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) – a stockpile of oil in Texas and Louisiana – to better reflect our refining abilities. Maximizing the SPR’s flexibility will ensure that our reserves and refineries are more effective during a potential supply disruption. This will also increase supplies of oil on the market over the next six months, serving to bring down prices, as we have seen in the past when the SPR has been utilized.

Drilling, alternatives and everything in-between must be utilized if we hope to find a sensible solution to our energy crisis; that’s the type of result I’m working to accomplish.

Please visit my website lampson.house.gov to learn more about how I am demanding that leaders in Congress stop playing games and start lowering gas prices for all Americans.

Sincerely,

NICK LAMPSON
Member of Congress

2. Nick Lampson is trying to get reelected in a district
that is routinely listed as +15R meaning a Republican/Democratic no name ballot will come back 65/35 with the R's marked in. If Lampson has any hope in hell of retaining his seat he's going to say a lot more stuff that will piss you off just as much.
