The difference between today's conservative press and yesteryears Liberal one
Edited on Thu Jul-31-08 11:22 AM by samsingh
Today's conservative press that stands in for an MSM presents falsehoods and lies. Their approach for furthering their message is to hide the truth from their viewers/readers, or to distort what they are forced to cover. It is a dark approach used by criminal regimes in dictatorships around the world throughout history.

About 20 years ago, wedged between the Watergate scandals and Bush 1, Liberal ideas were reported openly in the press as a result of several factors. The popularity of shows like All in the Family and Mash raised public awareness of what was wrong with society. The evils committed by the repugs under nixon raised the profile of reporters revealing the truth to the public. A liberal MSM was all about truth and letting the public truly make their own interpretations.

As Colbert has said: Reality has a Liberal Bias.

The conservative press, by definition, cannot show reality as it would cause them to cease their existence. As long as the msm remains conservative or repug, it will be a danger to the country's wellbeing because of the necessary distortions, lies, and diversions it will need to throw at their customers.

1. Objectivity
Objectivity, like truth, has a well known liberal bias.

3. Media consolidation. There used to be a diversity of viewpoints
that spanned the political spectrum. There were always some more conservative outlets but competition kept the quality bar higher overall.

Crossfire is long gone, but the media are all still out there doing their best to hurt what America is supposed to be.

Nice post -- I would change 20 years ago to 30 years ago, but that's just nit picking.
