Edited on Thu Jul-31-08 08:11 AM by Philosoraptor
I mean, this fucker has gone on longer than dubya dubya two fer Christ's sake! Where is the screaming outrage at dubya's total failure to catch the perp of nine eleven? Why aren't people in an absolute righteous rage over this president's abject failure to 'win' this 'war'?

You can bet your ass and the farm that there'd be screaming outrage from the right if it had been a Democrat president who'd let this bullshit drag on this long with no clear 'victory'.

2. Well if the goal was to establish a permanent presence in Iraq
things have gone swimmingly. If the goal was to create another Saudi Arabia with cheap oil and a common purpose of enriching sheiks and keeping the needle in the US vein well greased...then it's not a success yet. All I can figure is that the unspoken reason for fighting such a long bloody was must be worth a lot more to the powers that be than the costs involved. Bush and Cheney keep saying they're happy with "progress in Iraq" and perhaps they are. Creating a divided country where the three factions distrust each other and need the US is probably a real boon to the neo cons and KBR, Carlisle Group etc.

5. It is now common knowledge that this is the dumbest guy to ever be President
and the media feels bad for him. They will not report anything he has done to ruin this country. It's bad for business. Obama on the other hand. Anything McCain lobs his way is open for a full blown discussion. Having his President is bad for business.

6. Because you have people like Gates saying repeatedly that the 'war on terror' will take decades.

You have McSame longing for a 100 year occupation and all the Neocons believe that 'we' will rule the world militarily for centuries!

10. The transfer of wealth from the middle class to the wealthy is the war.
The movement from a Democratic Republic to a fascist state is the war.

On both accounts, Bush and the baddies are winning.

11. we in the public are all apathetic, stupid, ignorant and cowardly
We have our electronic soma, fairly cheap beer. The corporate media lulls us into a false sense of normalcy while their masters rape us over and over and over.

Everything in this country that affects the daily life of ordinary people has degraded beyond belief in the last eight years and we don't do anything. Why would we get all irate about something happening halfway around the world that we rarely ever hear about?

The corporate propagandists and the ruling elite are masters at using the war for propaganda when they need it and making it "go away" in between times.
