Chris Jordan's Lastest Digital Print: 25 Foot Mural Of Constitution. Made Up Of 83,000 Detainees.

I teach artist Chris Jordan's digital prints from his "Running The Numbers" series in my Digital Arts classes. He has appeared on the Tonight Show and The Daily Show, if I recall correctly. Crooks and Liars is featuring his latest work: http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/07/30/open-thread-884

We’ve posted about artist Chris Jordan’s work before. Here’s his latest. It’s an 8 foot by 25 foot mural in five panels showing the heading of the Constitution, rendered entirely with 83,000 pictures of Abu Ghraib prisoners, equal to the number of people who have been arrested and held at US-run detention facilities with no trial or other due process of law, during the Bush Administration’s war on terror.

4. Yes, I usually use him to start each semester of my Digital Art Appreciation classes.
The students try to figure out what they are looking at, at first. then they are pretty overwhelmed by the numbers, which is Jordan's point, of course.
